Spring 2015 Transfer Thread

@putabirdonit‌ might have to find different housing arrangements. check craigslist, im sure theres people willing to wait

Anyone know about UT dorms?

From friends and family West campus seems to be the favorite among living. Its really convenient and has amazing places to eat all around.

Anyone thinking of making a thread for Fall/Summer 2015 transfer applicants?

@Kyotoraz‌ I believe a thread is being made either later this week or early next week when the semester is officially over. You can actually start on your app. It’s open in apply texas!

@Kyotoraz‌ @cdctransfer‌ I plan to make it on 15th after most Spring decision is delivered.

Does anyone know if we have 30+ credit hours and we haven’t been rejected yet if we have somewhat of a good shot?

Has anyone heard about how they aren’t letting prospective students apply undeclared? I was at UT last weekend for a transfer session and tour and the admissions counselor stressed this repeatedly. I know that UT has removed UGS as an option for transfers from Apply Texas.

I got an email from admissions yesterday that they were not able to give me admission to neither my first(biology) nor second choice (undecided) major, however, I was one of 30 candidates given the option to be granted admission to any LA major instead. As of today I was officially awarded admission to Psychology BS in the College of Liberal Arts. Even though I’ve never taken a psychology class it was the most closely related thing to Bio in regards to some of the same required science classes and they kind of made it seem like they just needed me to pick a major any major just so I could get in (they literally sent me the link to the list of LA majors and told me to pick one). I plan to do an internal transfer later on.

Graduated high school a year early
40+ hours at ACC and a 4.0
Chem 1 + Lab: A
Chem 2 + Lab: A
Organic Chem 1+ Lab: A
Biol 1 + Lab: A
Precal in progress
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
Strong 2.5 pg Resume, comm service, 2yr independent microbiology research project, plenty of high school extra curr, ect. and two letters of rec from high school teachers. 3 fair/ok essays.

Wish the best of luck to those still waiting and hope y’all hear good news soon!

@cdctransfer Yeah they mentioned that in the email they sent me. Thats why they made me change my second choice from UGS to Psychology.

“part of ongoing efforts to help students successfully earn degrees in a timely manner, UT Austin is taking steps to have all transfer students begin their studies in degree-granting programs. Given UGS does not award degrees, we have determined that admission to that college is no longer a viable option for incoming transfer students”

@Sebgon4‌ Okay good to know. I’m applying to RTF at Moody for Fall 2015. I’ve also heard they are really starting to crack down and really do full holostic reviews of applicants. More so than they used to because people would transfer into “easier” colleges and the internal transfer the next smester. Do you know anything about this? Also have you heard back on Psych. yet? Best of luck to you!

Oh wait you said you switched to Psych. Haha should’ve read closer.

So I’ve worked so hard to get my GPA to stay a 4.0. I forgot to withdraw on time for Organic Chem 2 and will now have two F’s on my transcript and a C in Precal. I didn’t realize UT could revoke admission if you fail a class or your gpa takes a big drop. This will make my GPA go from a 4.0 to a 3.5. I am freaking out. Am I at serious risk for getting my admission revoked and what should I do??

@Sebgon4 Well wow all those credits and amazing GPA, UT still didn’t accept you into CNS. This is freaking me outt for the fall time when I’ll be apply with similar stats for CNS Chemistry.

IT HAPPENED!!! After months of having the words “Your application for admission is in review” seared into my poor brain, MyStatus finally updated this morning and I have been accepted to my first choice school, College of Communication- Communication Sciences and Disorders as a Degree Holder/Non-Degree seeker.

I graduated from Texas State University May of 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in English

I made 2 B’s during my time at school so my GPA was somewhere around a 3.94ish

Because of switching majors I did have a couple relevant science courses (Chemistry + lab, Biology)

College applied for was Moody College of Communication
I took a gamble and didn’t apply for a second choice school or major.

Major was Communication Sciences and Disorders
I am getting prereqs to earn a master’s degree to become a speech language pathologist, so I had to apply as a “degree-holder/non-degree seeker”

I had 2 very good essays (knew my English degree would come in handy someday!)

I had one recommendation letter. (From a former boss/grad assistant where I worked as a lifeguard at TXST)

I had a resume with my work experience, which included an internship with an online Austin magazine, my on-campus job as a lifeguard, and some retail and serving experience.

I had NO extracurriculars- I mean nothing. I just left the whole page blank because I hadn’t been involved in any kind of clubs, organizations, or volunteer work in the last 4 years. So glad this didn’t sink my application. Had I been rejected I would have taken a year off to beef up this portion and reapply.

Also, something interesting- I had to submit two sets of transcripts to apply, one from TXST where I graduated and one from A&M Corpus Christi where I spent my freshman and sophomore years. I sent TXST’s through SPEEDE with no problem, but TAMUCC’s transcript system is sort of outdated and weird and apparently the transcript I submitted from them was not an official one. And while they need me to send in a certified copy now, I was still accepted with the “unofficial” copy I’d submitted.

Congrats to all those who have been admitted, and keep trying for those that didn’t get the decision they were hoping for! Good luck to everyone waiting, hang in there, I hope you get the decisions we’ve all been waiting for.

@kalexandraa‌ Congrats on the acceptance!

Anyone know what an average GPA would be for CNS?

Here you go, @Kyotoraz. Click on Transfer Statistics. Good luck!

@Sebgon4 That’s a tough deal. Just my opinion, but I would contact UT and explain the situation. Maybe they’ll accept your reasons. Otherwise, you will be left waiting and hoping that they don’t catch it. I don’t think that’s a good bet. I know that A&M was really harsh if they discovered any discrepancies in the application and transcripts, and I expect that UT will be the same. Plus, I would feel it is a matter of individual credibility and personal integrity, but that’s just my perspective.

Well looks like transferring into UT is getting a whole lot more competitive. Hopefully a 4.0 would be good enough for CNS chemistry…
