Spring/Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

I’ve had my application completed since January, been in review since March and haven’t gotten a response as well

Same. Applied early January, been in review since March.

If you have a course that’s not transferrable (tech course taken in high school for dual credit) is the grade still calculated into your GPA that admissions uses to make their decision?

ive been in review for a week. They recieved my transcript that had a mistake on it on the 18th of May. I called and told them to hold my application from going into review until they recieved my correct one (which they got last Monday, May 23). It took them till that Thursday to process it all. I went into reveiw that friday. No other CAP students I know have gotten to the review stage yet.

@Newsie2015 what was the mistake? That scares me a little since we were both CAP students at UTA. I didn’t look at mine before I sent it.

@techfan741 my english prof said ahe would grade my midterm the day before my transcript sent out. I sent it to her email. She forgot i emailed her so she put a 0 in and it dropped me from an A to a B and lowered my GPA. My transcript sent out the next day with a B on it. Im glad I looked at it so that i fix the issue

I’ve been in review for a little over 2 weeks now and it’s driving me crazy. My heart goes out to those who have been in review since March! That’s crazy. The way I thought it worked was that if you had more than 30 hours when you apply that you wouldn’t be compared to those with less than 30 hours who have just sent their spring grades.

Why do CAP student decisions take longer than normal decisions? I applied to Cockrell as my first choice so should’t i I be considered with all other transfer applicants to Cockrell?

@parthp97 you are. eveyone is basically in the same pool except (according to the adcom i spoke to) there are some reserved seats for CAP students. so the kids who hear back first ar most likely the kids filling up the reserved seats. After that its fair game. it takes longer because if you’re denied your major then the COLA majors look at you and decide if they want you. if they don’t want you, then you have auto admit to COLA undeclared. but they are waiting for all the CAP students transcripts to get in and processed

Anyone heard of any CNS people who have gotten in with a 3.5?

SO NERVOUS. Do you think if we haven’t heard back at this point there’s a good chance or it’s just a bad sign?

I don’t know @ameerica … I’m starting to get worried, I really want to get into Cockrell…

I think it’s fine if we haven’t heard back by now… I mean the more competitive schools seem as if they are taking longer because of all the applications they are reviewing in depth. In my opinion, we will either hear back late next week or on June 15th

Did anyone else confirm that they received the UT extended courses email? It might be a sign that you got in if all the CAP students are getting it.

@Newsie2015 I got one

I didn’t receive an email, is this supposed to be for CAP students only?

Did not get an email. But also didn’t fill out housing app or scholarship app.

I didn’t get an email either. I’m not CAP but I did fill out housing

@Newsie2015 I got the email and I’m not a CAP student

@Newsie2015 I’m pretty sure that’s just something they’re trying to sell to people. I heard an advertisement for it on KLRU. Admittance to the university isn’t required to take those courses. Harvard does the same thing and I’ve gotten a few letters from them about it.
