Spring/Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

I think if UT has your email from applying to UT from High School or before then you got it. They only sent it to people who they have in their system probably.

@tonyromo123 the email I used in HS is not the same used this year.

@Clintonwk the email has nothing to do with housing or scholarships. i didnt fill out scholarship app but i did for housing but my CAP friends who didnt apply for housing got it too

I’ve been hearing of people getting those emails for a few days now and honestly I don’t see the point of people already being “in” and not already having their decsions. If you’re in, you’ll get your decsion. I wouldn’t read into this at all.

@Clintonwk I agree with you 100%

https://extendedcampus.utexas.edu/uex/courses/online.php. They are just trying to sell people online classes. It doesn’t mean anything.

I saw on reddit that someone was rejected from CNS Biology with a 3.9 GPA (not sure if they’re a part of this thread)… holy smokes, I’m so nervous!!

Hang in there @britni12 - you never know what else was in their application that might have knocked them out of contention I hope you hear soon!

@britni12 One semester someone with a 4.0 got rejected from CNS math and others got in with GPA’s closer to a 3.5. I think CNS may be the most holistic of the colleges, from what I’ve heard. Don’t lose hope!!

@tonyromo123

My mom got that extension course email, lol. I wouldn’t read anything into it other than they are trying to sell the courses.

@rach98n @Clintonwk Thanks guys :slight_smile: I’m trying to remain positive, but it is hard at times.

hi again everyone, i have a question about pre req classes, i applied to cola international relations (and cola undeclared), and i was wondering if there are pre req classes one needs to take for this major. I know some people have to take calc for certain majors, and if they don’t, they wont get accepted, so are there any classes like that for irg or just cola (i didnt see any on the website). My gpa is already on the lower side, i really dont want another thing taking me out. :frowning: Thanks for any help!

@blue1996 I would think that “off the record” requirements would be any major oriented classes, since website doesn’t state actual “required” classes. I would think that classes that show your interest in International Relations can’t hurt. Do you have any of those?

@britni12 thanks for answering! I’ve been taking French since freshmen year (just finished sophomore yr), and I’ve taken anthropology, macroeconomics, and an interdisciplinary studies class, but for the most part I’ve just been taking basic required classes bc im undeclared at my school. My school doesn’t have international relations (reason why im transferring) so selections are low. But the “off the record” requirements thing totally make sense.

@blue1996 You should be good. What is your GPA, if you don’t mind me asking?

@blue1996 I think you’ll be fine :slight_smile:

@britni12 oy a 3.29, so extremely low, but i had a bad freshman yr (mental health/talked about it in an essay), and did a complete 180 this past fall semester with a 4.0 and I got a 3.7 for this past spring semester (even though they don’t have those grades bc i was over 30hrs) but im going into this with low expectations anyway (miracles can happen though right lol)

@texas759 thanks, i guess we’ll all have to just keep waiting though :confused:

@blue1996 I have zero clue about the competitiveness of international relations, but I do know that showing a positive academic trend can help. I am in a similar situation :slight_smile: Crossing my fingers that they see us as “worth the investment”! haha

@britni12 i heard it was competitive, so im just hoping for cola underclared, but hopefully they take the chance on us lol
