Even though we are 7 days out of UT deadline, does anyone else feel as if they will never get a response lol?
@DaveCloud I kind of feel like I’ve been forgotten about… so yes lol
The latest UT Admissions twitter response when asked about the June 15 deadline:
Nope, it’s a general release date. It’s always possible that some decisions come out earlier/later than a release date.
For people waiting for McCombs decisions, I got mine 6/17 at around 6:00 PM last year. Just a heads up for those people waiting on McCombs.
The UT admissions account is now even wavering on the June 15th date. They’re calling it a general release date now and saying that decisions could come earlier or later.
The wait is real
@Toastyful what was your gpa? I doubt ill get in externally with 3.9 since mccombs getting harder.
@TexasLonghorn12
Mine was a 4.0
Your GPA is still pretty good so there’s still a chance you will get in.
Would you mind adding me to the list of hopefuls? I wrote up my stats a few pages back, but I can do it again if need be.
this is the worst because I am taking a summer class right now just in case i dont get in, but I expected to know before now so i could drop the course and still get a refund for it if i got in. I will lose a couple of hundred dollars and I really dont have money to waste. Now I am confused whether to drop it or not because I just dont know where i am going to college yet. It wont count for anything except for just credit hours at UT. I am beyond tired of waiting and I really expected to know by now. if they go past june 15, idk what ill do.
Admissions received my final transcript from a school in the New Orleans area on 5/23 and it went into review last Wednesday. So, hopefully by next week I will get an answer. I am happy that all of my courses besides my Computer Science courses were transferable from doing the audit. So out of my 41 hours only 35 were transferred and I will have to retake entry level CS courses.
@Penguins786 , why wouldn’t the course count for anything?
@Toastyful lets see hopefully they let me in. I dont wanna go through the stress again to internal transfer.
I had a 3.7 w 40 hours @Newsie2015
Well, I think that I will be one of those that finds out at the last possible moment if I got in or not
lol just my luck!
Hi, my son is also awaiting a decision. He’s been attending ACC so already has a great place to live. If you don’t mind working/labor for 6 hours week and are looking for affordable housing, try a Google search on “Austin Affordable College Housing”. There are a few options out there.
Good luck with your decisions.
Question: Are no rejections being communicated yet? All I see here are acceptances and I think it would be helpful to know if the various colleges within UT are confirming “rejections” .
There is no shame in being rejected, there is only shame in not trying for something you really want.
@eaglemom10 I too wish more people would post if they got rejected. That way we would know which schools are active and would give the rest of us and future applicants an idea of the pool they accept/decline
As a parent of a UT student and another son who hopes to transfer in, I’ve watched this about 6 years now. The highest GPA earners get in. If you have consistently earned above 95 in every class, UT will recognize your awesomeness and invite you to attend. You have a standout GPA.
However, if your any of your grades were more on the 89.9 - 95 end of an “A”, you are not considered by UT to have a 4.0. UT Admissions will convert if the transcript shows a numerical average and that will not benefit you, but it doesn’t take you out of consideration.
They say the review system is holistic. However, you need to be a standout in: a) GPA or b) Essays (you write like a Pulitzer prize future winner) or c) you have a great story like tons of community service (you started your own charity or organization). You only need to blow one out of the water (WOW them) and be good enough in the other 2. That is what is meant by holistic.
You are judged only on your merit and isn’t that wonderful! There is no consideration given for family having attended (that is Texas A&M). There is no consideration for loving the sports team and attending games and loving the traditions (again Texas A&M). There is no consideration for how much money your family donated (not since the last president left, if you believe those rumors)
Good luck to all. Here’s hoping they HOOK you!
@eaglemom10 I found this post very condescending and almost as if it was written to scare us all and put a damper on our confidence. We are all hoping for the best and are all hard working. Also, an A is an A. Just because an A is on the lower side of the grading scale, doesn’t take away its value. Best of luck to your son though.
@hookemlion504 as in it wouldn’t count for anything towards my major, therefore it’s basically just another credit that doesn’t count and money lost if I go to UT
@eaglemom10 UT Austin specifically details how they calculate your transfer GPA, so I know you’re 100% wrong already. A is 4 points, B is 3 and so on. Their webpage says so directly. They’re not judging how “high” the A is. An A is an A.
And again, you’re wrong about GPA being the most important because we’ve already had people with lower GPAs who have been accepted already while people with higher GPAs have not been. Go read the list. I have a higher GPA than Nepusr there in the same major, but they were accepted over a month ago already.
