@BlueMoonArmy I just found out on Twitter that UT admissions has no information on release dates/times. I guess they were just making stuff up lol. Are you still in review?
I’m still in review with McCombs and i am beyond fustrated now! I have a 4.0, 3 essays, 2 LORs! I do not know what is freaking taking them so long
@LonghornHopefull same here. Hope we all get in.
@HoiCheung Hopefully that admissions lady was not lying about today or tomorrow
@HoiCheung Yeah, still in review.
Hi, I appealed to be considered as a transfer applicant on June 6, and my appeal was accepted. I have over 30 hours of college credit. I have over 500 hours of community/school service. I also wrote two amazing essays. My final rank in high school was 23/296, and my GPA was 97.2. My college GPA is also 3.56. I originally applied at a freshman applicant, and I was denied. I am now applying as a transfer student to be accepted into the Government program, and my second choice is undeclared. Do y’all know when I might hear something back or if I have a good chance ?
@HoiCheung where/when did you read/hear that?
@khadafhi I am coming off of an appeal too, that might be a reason for the delay
@mcorltepp I’m really hoping I get in. I honestly feel like they wouldn’t have accepted our appeals if they didn’t think we had a chance.
Nope. Nada. Nyet. Nein. My son was rejected today both from RTF and COLA undeclared. I can’t believe it took this look to tell him. His application was submitted in February.
His GPA likely killed him. It is hard to come back if you tank early on. He had two really good essays and I’m assuming a good letter of rec from his film professor at ACC. He should have gotten other letters of rec, but he was under the impression that letters had to be from professor’s only. (That clearly wasn’t the case with many folks here.)
He showed excellent upward trend grade-wise, getting straight As his last semester at ACC and he did it while working full time and fully supporting himself. But… it clearly wasn’t enough. I think the lack of recent internships really hurt him, though it it is hard to work full time, go to school, and still have time to “work for free” at an internship.
So forward. He got into a number of other schools but he chose Columbia College in Chicago as his backup to UT (he had to put down a deposit that he was willing to walk away from). Now he has to pack up his Austin life and start over. It will be hard, but change can be good. He loves Austin. Hopefully he finds a way to get back there.
Congrats to all who got in. Hook’em!
I just called and they said they hope to get all the decisions out by the end of this week! And i was like that’s when orientation is, and the lady on the phone was like yeah but we don’t have anything to do with the office who handles transfer orientation and i’m like ??? y’all need to communicate cause i need to take off work to go to it and i can’t know last minute! this is stressful
@bhairvishah maybe you should not come off as rude to them. Lol. You have to understand they have the biggest freshman class coming in, which students are returning as upperclassman, decisions from the different departments, classes that are available to make sure we are still on track to graduate. And the school has a 24% acceptance of oos and 49% of instate transfers. Blah blah blah. They are being thorough hopefully.
@hookemlion504 yeah i get that, its just frustrating that we were given a date and they didn’t honor that and now they’ve been telling different people different things - it just seems like no one is on the same page, yah know?
Maybe that is the case, but they did say it is a general date. It could be later or sooner. They have transfer orientation in August too. We will find out. It sucks that if I get accepted I will have less than two months to find a place to live, a job, find a way to move my things and find a place to buy a bed in Austin. Gonna be rough but we will all manage.
Yea, cut them some slack. I’m sure they’re drowning in applications, and have been since March. It’s a very long, tedious process and I’m just happy they’re seemingly taking their time with my application instead of glancing through it and throwing it aside.
I’m feeling y’alls pain… Still waiting for a response from Cockrell. Been in review since March
Just got rejected. Applied for computer science back in March. At the time I applied, my JuCo’s transcript had 56 passed hours, 3.69 GPA. Not sure what UT calculated my GPA to be, but it was significantly lower as I have retaken a few classes. Disappointing, but I’m not going to let it get me down.
I just turned 29, and I didn’t return to school to have the typical ‘college experience’. I’m trying to learn, and I can accomplish that elsewhere. Congrats to everyone who got in.
@ImDerped , I understand. I just went back to college this last fall and I got retroactive withdrawal for my first semester after I graduated high school. I am taking complete advantage of my second chance, I really want my PhD and to continue learning past my degree and earn more degrees. I’ll be 25 on July 4th. Still waiting on my decision. UTexas received my final transcript on the 23rd. I meet all requirements for the CNS. I even sent my ACT score knowing it was not required. Really am hoping my essays did a good job relaying where I was and where I am now.
When I toured campus in February, I heard CS is severely overcrowded and it is very difficult to enroll into classes. UT really needs to expand their CS department since it is one of the best in the country and Austin is becoming a top tier technology city.
@cbrand what was your son’s overall transfer GPA, if you don’t mind me asking? It seems we were both in similar situations.
I don’t know. The GPA on his ACC transcript, which included his disastrous first year at CU, was 3.4. As a student, he brought some interesting things to the table and he wrote a particularly kick-ass essay (I’ve done volunteer essay reading on CC and edited many college essays for friends and family), but in the end, I think his lack of internships, coupled with his low GPA, made him less competitive.
I just want to congratulate everyone who did get in and wish those still waiting to hear, the very best. I’ve been reading this forum since April, though I haven’t been actively participating. I’m beyond excited for those of you who did get in and my heart aches for those, like my son, who got rejected. However, life goes on. There are many opportunities waiting for you out there even if you don’t get into UT. Plus… there is always graduate school!
