I am frantically searching everywhere but most places seem to be out of my budget 
I am a cap student still waiting on my admission to UT Austin. I had well above a 3.2 and completed all the cap requirements but still haven’t heard back from UT and it is making me quite nervous. My status has always shown up as “your application for admission is complete” but has never been “in review”. Does anyone if that will make a difference at all towards my admission?

@cbrand I am in the same boat as your son, except the GPA UT calculated for me was lower, they gave me a 3.21 transfer GPA. I had no letters of rec, no extra curriculars, no internships, and I got in. I may be able to help if his heart is set on UT (I can’t remember if I read that he’s going to attend somewhere else). I’m not trying to be cocky in ANY way, I just feel for people who tanked first year, because I did too, 10 years ago (2 Fs, 10 Ws, and 1 D) and would love to offer help if I can.

This is so random, but I went to go file an appeal for my rejection to McCombs and it said that I was accepted to my second choice! Moody Public Relations! It sure as hell didn’t say that initially! Has anyone else been accepted after initially being rejected?? @Newsie2015 update my stats!

@cbrand that is so weird. I had a 3.11 transfer GPA and was accepted to my second choice in COLA. I too had a horrendous first year and an upward grade trend. No internships, but a great job relevant to my first choice major and 1 LOR. I guess had incredible essays because I still don’t exactly know how I get in but I am beyond happy I did. Maybe it was my 4.0 in math, even though I was rejected from them. Perhaps they are just stashing me in COLA for a year… Sorry about your son.

I’ve been admitted! Thank you guys for posting and commiserating.
First choice: electrial engineering
Hi, I am currently trying to transfer into COFA from an out of state school. My biggest concern right now is that on my mystatus page, the message that I need to send in my college final transcript has not gone away, though when I go to my documents, it says it has been received. Is anyone else in the same boat as me, and should I be concerned about this? I’ve called office of admissions and asked them about this, and they said “this means you’re in limbo”, but still I find it concerning.
My son was just rejected today for both EE and ME, about 63 hours, 4.0, 3 LOR, did not have SAT or ACT (wonder if that effected him), took Eng.Physics I and Calc III in spring semester. UT did not ask him for his spring grades.
@Clintonwk I don’t understand either. I’m sort of surprised that they didn’t offer him COLA undeclared. Could he possibly have had too many credits? He had pushed up against 70 hours.
Just spoke to the office- first off they now say decisions should be wrapped up by this Friday (Doubtful) but I also asked because I was coming off of an appeal did it push my application down to the bottom of the pile, which they said yes.
So in short, if your application was appealed previously and the appeal was accepted, you will be one of the last to find out.
@Clintonwk My son was “homeschooled,” that is, he went to Austin CC mostly, at least his Jr and Sr year. He had 73 total hours but at least 14 of those are not transferable (e.g., college algebra, trig, pre-calc). Not sure if Spanish I and II would have transferred or not. UT did not let him know until today that he was rejected. We are just pretty puzzled about this since it looked like (from college confidential postings) those with a 3.8 or above were being accepted at Cockrell. He was accepted to EE at A&M and SMU. I don’t know the COLA rules, maybe he had too many hours to be offered COLA.
@MomOf262 your son didnt get in cause he didn’t meet the requirements. UT wont ask for his spring grades because he had more than 30 hours but he to submit his spring grades because University Physics 1 is requirement for cockrell on his own. They rejected him when he first sent it with his fall transcripts because he didnt have Uni Physics 1 and were waiting for him to send in spring grades … so they can evaluate him with everyone that applied and was waiting to turn in spring grades.
@photolonghorn That is completely normal.
All this means is that your document has been received but has not been processed yet. So they basically got your transcript but since so many people are also sending in their transcripts they are looking through them and yours has not been processed yet. It is completely normal just give them a couple of days.
@cbrand I think I ended up having 74 hours transfer over.
