Dang I was really hoping more decisions would come out today.
We are thinking he was rejected for out of state too, as well as not having enough technical classes compared to what I see on this thread. Most who’ve been accepted to Cockrell have Calc 1 and 2, along with physics 1 and 2. He should have more of a shot next year while in state. By the way, we are buying a house in Austin next Thursday… SO EXCITED!! just thought I’d share that
@“Hope N Calories” : so are you sure that CS takes only GPA above 3.9? I am an international student and OOS with 3.81 gpa for 69 transferrable credits.
@britni12 Congrats on the house!! Is it in Austin itself or one of the surrounding cities (Cedar Park, etc.)? I’m crossing my fingers that it doesn’t rain that day for you.
Hey guys, to those accepted, has anyone gotten a financial aid package offer yet?
Mine says to check back in two weeks, but that’s ridiculous because then it would be after the May 1st deadline of choosing whether or not to go to the school.
Also, it says to check CASH, which I did and it says I still have things to complete, but that’s just the upgrading of my UT EID, and that won’t happen until after I accept and go to orientation. I need to know what financial aid I can receive before I choose to go to this school or not.
@sat4498 yeah CS is very competitive even for in state transfer. The competitive students with UT only taking in 8% OOS students makes it very hard to get in. I would say you have a chance with a 3.81 but I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
@DaveCloud: thanks for your reply. I have applied to 5 universities of texas, and already got admitted in 4 of those (TAMU, UTD, UTA and UTSA).But my husband got admitted as a PhD student in UT Austin. So I desperately want to get admitted in UT Austin.
@NosyParent16 Surrounding area. We are looking in pflugerville, round rock, and manor! Thursday is the day we go visit and make an offer
We can’t wait to get to Texas, we fell in the love with the pride and idealogy of Texas!
@britni12 Two words - Pflugerville donuts. lol (awesome!!)
@NosyParent16 Lol, we will keep that in mind. Is Manor far? It doesn’t seem like it.
@britni12 I’ve only driven through Manor once and that was when we checked out Texas A&M. It seemed like it was far away but it’s not really. Please remember, Austin traffic is terrible and getting worse. Depending on what time the classes are for your Hubby & you, it may take an hour plus to get to the main UT campus. And the further north you live, the longer it’s going to take to get there. ACC is all over Austin, so that shouldn’t be a concern.
@sat4498 Hi! I currently attend UTD. While the academics are great, the social life is lacking
I just wanted to let you know just in case you were looking for a college with parties/football team/other traditional social aspects because UTD doesn’t have it
Got into COLA a few nights ago with a 3.68 and 37 hours!
@jpg6643 yayyy congrats!!
@jpg6643 Congratulations!
@Auwryn I haven’t gotten any financial aid info at all and I wouldn’t expect it to be out til June honestly. Idk any info on it tho.
@DaveCloud That info about only accepting 8% of out of state students is a misinterpretation made by someone else in the thread. Only 8% of the students accepted into UT are out of state students. That doesn’t mean they only accept 8% of those who apply & are out of state, it just means out of ALL the students admitted only 8% are out of state. Which makes sense because the vast majority of applicants are from the state of Texas. The admissions rate specifically for out of state students is 24% if I recall, and this info is on the “admitted class profile” or something like that in the UT website. So of the out of state students who apply 24% or really almost 1 in every 4 are admitted. I think that’s pretty good odds. You can verify this info for yourself on the UT website.
@ Everyone else, Cockrell just has a low low LOW acceptance rate period. That school places people in amazing careers, has tons of money (even though they BS it on the site like they have limited funds lolol psych) and it has very influential alumni. There is a lot of KILLER competition to get into Cockrell as opposed to say Moody or CNS. It’d be a long debate over which school is harder to get into between McCombs and Cockrell… although I’d say cockrell especially for Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering.
@WannabeBanana lol you legitimately said the same thing I said about the 8% just in a different way
Admissions rep specifically said, they only accepted 8% out of state this semester…
The admitted class profile isn’t out yet for Fall 2016 online.
