I read the previous comment, someone said he/she got rejected, the date posted 4 weeks ago, I called the admission just now, everytime their words are exactly the same " you will know your decision shortly" … So I directly called my department, the department said if I didn’t hear from the admission means we haven’t decided yet…

I spoke with someone on the phone yesterday and they pulled up my info and advised me that I should know in the next two weeks…SMH… I need to know now!! lol

COLA 1st choice. Found out at about noon(I had checked at about 11:30 too)… GPA 3.43. Quite a few extracurriculars (study abroad, minor publications) 1 really good Rec… But what I’m happy about is I took a chance with my essays, one was about how I went to rehab(not how it affected my grades but about why the public perception of AA is skewed) and the statement of purpose had nothing to do with UT, and was basically a rant about various philosophers and writers that said crazy things and about how I used to think I could turn my body into a tree if I looked at one for long enough (true story).
@DaveCloud do you know that the department will object applants first or they will put the denied applants the last for the whole process?

@jeff787 this is not proven but it is my theory on how the process goes. They accept applicants with the best credentials gpa/ extra curriculars first while also denying the applicants who do not meet standards, prereqs gpa etc. then the other applicants like you and I are put into the pool and are compared to each other till and accept the best out of there till they fill up the available spots. So if your this far along you are getting compared to other students so atleast you have a chance.
Take that with a grain of salt but that’s how I imagine the process
@DaveCloud thank you for your reply. How do I know that my documents had been reviewed I mean my status never changed and no additional notes saying my documents have been reviewed. Only saying" my app is completed and in review" for two months!!
@jeff787 what does your status say?
Just got accepted for CS. Second choice was computer engineering but it doesn’t say anything about that.

Recs; No letters of recommendation
Essays: Pretty Strong
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Extracurriculars: ACM competitive coding, Interned at Twitter, Google CSSI 2014, Interned at Thomson Reuters.
Classes taken: Calc 1/2, Discrete Math, Algs, OOP, Phys 1 for engineers, Digital Circuit Logic, DC Circuit Analysis, Intro to Microprocessors.
Classes this semester: Calc 3, Phys 2 for engineers, Circuit Theory, Programming in C++
My deadline to accept is the 10th of May.
