Spring/Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@Jeff787 you do realize this is a thread about UT, right? I’m not trying to be rude, but please specify next time if you’re talking about a different school.

@Clintonwk it’s totally my fault I just realized it! I am truly sorry if I made a confusion situation. So sorry. And anyone can delate my previous message. God I’m so stupid.

@Jeff787 it’s all good, man!

For those of you under 30 hours, what is the deadline for y’all to have spring semester grades in?

@DaveCloud – June 1 is the deadline for spring transcripts

@jennie11 Thanks, I feel as if the rest of us are waiting to be compared to the 30< so I guess we have another month…

@DaveCloud I’m starting to think we have another month of waiting too which would be frustrating since admissions told multiple last week that we would “hear something in two weeks.”

After just now calling the school I was told that I should have a decision by the end of this month.

@kdeez3 the end of the month will probably turn into June 15th tbh

I am assuming that they’ve already looked at CAP student applications and divided them up. The CAP students they really like that have sent in their transcripts will be accepted immediatley while the ones on the fence aren’t going to find out until june when they compare the remaining CAP students with the leftover transfer applicants.

@ashwitch I applied to RTF (but i am CAP). I wrote about how as a black woman I didn’t want to be a statistic and prove that numbers don’t define who I am going to be in the future. My other one I wrote about stereotypes in the media. I believe they were very strong but I didnt spend much time on it.

It’s all a bunch of “HOOPLA!!!” If I didn’t know any better I would think there a bunch of UT insiders in this thread… Lets all remain patient and stop making things out which really aren’t. In previous years threads people were still being accepted on 6/20, who where they being compared against. This whole show is a process, let it work its way out.

@PetroBear84 I don’t understand why people like you are on this thread. People simply state their opinions or possible theories about UT admissions. If you don’t want to listen to the “hoopla” why are you on the thread.

@PetroBear84 this is a thread about discussing the 2016 transfer process. What it sounds like you are essentially saying is that this thread shouldn’t exist.

I think a large majority of transfers above 30 hours will hear before June

Wonder how soon the under 30 hours folks will start hearing? My daughter finished up this week and transcripts are being electronically sent on Monday. Wonder if they go into review right away?

I’m like 90% sure the admissions office is making stuff up. I get different answers depending on which one I call, so don’t take their word on anything. I finished the Spring 2016 semester and when I called the Austin UT admissions center, they told me not to bother sending in the transcripts yet because I have 30+ hours and haven’t been accepted. I then called the San Antonio UT admissions satellite and they told me to send in the Spring 2016 transcripts even though I already have 30+ hours because they could potentially be looked at if I haven’t been reviewed yet.

@BlueMoonArmy I agree with you. I think it will be a different story for every applicant and they will bit by bit send decisions until June 15th hits.

Hi guys, could you please chance me? I know that this is a wall of text but it would seriously mean the world, I’m freaking out so much I want to cry. Applying as a transfer student from American University in Washington DC to UT Austin.

TLDR; 4.0 GPA from OOS. English/Philosophy as first and second choice.

Total credit hours from AU: 31
Total AP credit hours: 18; Applicable AP credit hours: 16

In sum: 47 credit hours.
Note: Did not apply for financial aid.

Academics:-- SAT: 1900: Math: 470 Reading: 630 Writing: 720
Current GPA from American University: 4.0

Coursework:-- My first semester at AU I was part of the Washington Mentorship Program, which had a curriculum different from regular first-semester students where we held an internship in DC while also taking a full course load of classes. I held an internship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s DC office handling science policy
Tutored high school students through DC Reads Initiative. I’m concerned that UT won’t take these credits into consideration due to those factors, however, at AU these work/study classes were given the same weight as regular classes and also transferred onto my transcript. They just sound a little bit strange:

Lastly, I have two from my professors (one of which is an English professor that I have taken both semesters, the other is a philosophy/law prof). I also have another letter from a Government professor who teaches at UT Austin that I’ve gotten to know. My essays are strong, I think. I wrote about being a pilot in high school, working in hospice, and how my entire family has attended UT, and how my grandfather was a professor there.

Please tell me what you think. Thank you!!

@FluffyPanda Would be very surprised if you didn’t get in.
