Hi everyone! I’m an Italian student(currently in the USA for a year-long exchange program) and wanted to apply to UCL european social and political studies course for 2016. I’ve read a ton of stuff on applications, and basically what I got is that the things that make you stand out are your personal statement and the TSA. Other than that does anyone have any advice on how I could be able to get in the university? I know I need a 95 on my high school diploma. My grades are pretty good. I have good grades in Humanities and have studied English, German, Latin, Ancient Greek and French (I guess it counts to know a lot of languages for a program me regarding Europe; however, I only know English and Italian at a very good level. )
I’d be grateful for any advice you guys can give me! I really, REALLY wanna enter that program me. Thanks to everyone who’ll answer!
You will want to have math (14 written).
To write a convincing personal statement you need to show your interest for the subject. Do extra reading (UCL probably has a reading list for the course somewhere online), do related extra-curriculars and work experience, and make sure you are truly passionate to be studying nothing but ESPS for the next three/four years!
Good luck!
I lived with two ESPS students last year and got to know most of the year group throughout, all I’d say is that you have to be passionate about what you want to study and be damn good at it at the same time; you should be able to think on your feet and come up with good well thought out responses. That being said being an international student should help you out when applying, ESPS is largely composed of people from mainland Europe.
