Stanford 2014 SCEAers

That was directed at Diivio. And I’m still creepin on this thread, I haven’t abandoned it.

my chances? probably 13 or so %

i guess that goes for all of us, raptor

i’d say its probably impossible to quantify stanford chances though, it truly is random

I don’t believe its actually random, personally. It’s just too subjective for any given person to accurately judge their own standing.

Well not like completely random, but eventually they will get to a point when there are a good stack of extremely qualified people with very distinguishing applications. After that, its the Stanford gamble and we all play it.

@Prussia!

I don’t know if I agree 100% with you. While yes, other factors in an application play a major role, I have seen that no matter what Stanford still seems to focus heavily on academics (a given, I know). I’ve gone to tons of college admission statistics sites/webpages and they mostly all have the same percentages for GPA or class rigor in junior/senior years.

For instance, I keep wanting to “stack” myself up with Stanford and it makes me feel worse by the day. I don’t have higher than a 3.5 GPA (it’s actually a 3.2), so I feel terrible about it (I am trying to raise it though; aiming to take college classes in the summer since according to my counselor they count as AP’s GPA-wise, not credit-wise). The only positives that I feel that I possess are: “possibly” essay-writing skills since I’ve always been great with writing and I have a huge support team of editors; as well as somewhat good EC’s. Yet even my EC’s pale in comparison to all of you guys’. I’ve never done a research paper (nor do I know how I would even do it, what it consists of, etc etc) and I’ve certainly not been involved with 20 clubs since freshman year.

The only way that they, for example, take such low GPA’s is presumably when someone is exceptional at a sport, or something else.

It’s just a bit depressing, but anyways, that’s my take on the whole admissions process. Those are my two cents. Maybe they’re a good indication of how S U’s process works, maybe not. :frowning: It’s definitely a debatable topic though; we should really try to discuss it in greater detail :wink: (it might help pass the time)

Greetings from Yale SCEA.

We would like to point out that we are cooler than you and have a facebook group.

That is all.

^Haha. That makes my day.

My last SAT Reasoning ever over, woot! No more math. Ever. Please.

As for the admissions process, I don’t know. They’ve got like 10 people debating over you for at least 5 minutes - it can’t be TOO random. A lot of it possibly depends on the mood they are in that day, what the applications before you were like, etc, etc, but at SOME point it has to make some sense. It mostly doesn’t seem to, though. :(

@christiansoldier : We have a facebook group too. Just pointing that out. :)

@christiansoldier

LOL

funniest thing I’ve heard today.

So… yeah…

sad face need to waste time more efficiently

Someone here claimed earlier that he already knows he’s accepted, can anyone explain to me how he knows that?

thx :P

a fellow SU REA applicant

who is this? applicantnot? if then, it’s b/c they’re in questbridge and they found out earlier.

@dec15comeFaster

It’s the same with me… I check my mail a/c at least 5 times a day…

whts questbridge?

This was NJDS’s description of what Questbridge is:

Also, shadow, I’m bit confused on what you’re supposed to be disagreeing with me about, haha.

@sarbaraj101

Do you think they already know who is accepted and not or r they still deciding?

LMAO10char

@dec15comeFaster

I think they are currently in the last stages of evaluation…

but yeah, just a hunch…

Haha, I know, I caught that when he first posted but chose not to say anything.
I just fixed it in the quote.
