<p>So you know that UC was thinking of throwing out the SAT from admission decision a while ago? How would you guys feel if colleges did not require the SAT?</p>

<p>Ha well I wouldn’t care if they threw out the SAT cause I did better on the ACT 
But seriously, I think SAT/ACT is mostly a piece of crap. I do think that somebody of say, Stanford caliber, should be able to get a score above a certain threshold, but above that point I don’t think its a good measure of a student’s ability to do anything except dedicate large amounts of time to studying, pay for SAT classes, etc.</p>

<p>Diivio: well my friends and I are… quirky to say the least. haha. Anyway, we went through this period where we put -ness and -age at the end of everything haha. It bugged the **it out of the older kids when we were in middle school… haha… we were annoying. Anyway, I was feeling EXTREMELY nostalgic when I registered with CC… and honestly the name really describes me… as in awesome!! Haha jk jk</p>

<p>Hmm. I actually like that schools use the SAT. I think that GPA is an even worse way to quantify intelligence/ability to succeed. It’s not perfect but there has to be some sort of standardized test that pre-college students can take to demonstrate an ability to succeed in college. I’m not saying that schools shouldn’t accept people who didn’t get 2300+, but if schools didn’t use it, then there would be no basic way to show aptitude. And it’s not like Stanford bases decisions completely off of SAT/ACT. It’s just something to look at.</p>

<p>anon, good point. I’d rather take the SAT than base it off of GPA. Then again, I’m just a bad test taker. And I guess they understand that people so much more than tedious passage based reading and math problems that try to trick them, along with some grammar.</p>
