Stanford 2014 SCEAers

Hey, just so you know, there are 2 people who have USAMO/USABO/Siemens/Intel from Missouri. The other one is applying to Yale SCEA. I find it interesting that you know so much about it though, are you a olympiadian? I’m very impressed with your knowledge. But if you look at what I’ve posted before, I haven’t always lived in Missouri, I used to live in California. Oh, and no one knows about Intel yet.

I remember when this forum was going 300 posts a day… who thinks we should bring the posts to 5000, just for old times’ sake?

Just for the record, I sent Natacion a message about this, and she/he is not only a junior who knows a lot about olympiads, but she/he was very apologetic and kind. So she/he was not wrong in any way to doubt my stats.

i think we should still get to 5000 by december 15th. 2 days!

otherwise i’m just gona be here posting by myself.

So I know I said I would leave a gajillion times already but I’m all up for getting to 5000.
Also, I’m done moping over Stanford, I decided to take the sour-grapes way out hahahah
LET’S GO. 5000.

canary, what school have you set your sights on now?

I honestly don’t know - no one school is standing out to me right now.
I’d love to be in California, b/c it’s such a nice place, but my other two choices would’ve been Berkeley and Caltech, and I didn’t like either of them when I visited. I think now that I can’t go to Stanford, I’ll apply to Caltech - it is a nice place, if a little too… enclosed? Hahah, not sure what the right word for it would be.
As for all the other states, I’m pretty much applying to the schools that everyone else tells me would be good for me, (and/or my parents tell me I have to apply to because they’re HYP_M) haha. And they are nice schools - I certainly would love to go to any of the schools on my list, it’s just that none of them really stands out as the perfect school, you know?

I think we should all anxiously post til I finally get my decision!

I’m hoping it comes tomorrow when the admissions folks are all back to work.

My daughter just found out one of her classmates got accepted. He’s ranked #3 out of 245. The #1 and #2 students (girls) were rejected. I don’t know any of them personally, but the boy is one of those bright kids who you just KNOW is going places. Kind of a Bill Gates-type. Well, we know ONE place he’s going: STANFORD! Lucky him.

well canary, I have lived in CA my whole life, and Ive researched tons of schools in the are, including at least a dozen school visits. pm me, and i can tell you about most schools in the state. Its too bad you didnt like Berkeley, I think its awesome, lol. check out the claremont schools, they are great and not very well known

I’ll help you guys. I’m still at the moping stage, so I’m going to stay away today until I get over the fact that Stanford didn’t want me.

Canary, I’m kind of at the same place you are - I wanted to go to Stanford and there doesn’t seem to be another school that’s the same. Ah well. I did what I could.

Congrats Xargon, btw. And sg12, I would be very anxious right now. I hope you get in!

“…until I get over the fact that Stanford didn’t want me.”
Ahh Anon, when you say it like that, it sounds so depressing! Hahah.
I can’t wait to hear your (good!) news, sg12!!! Crossing my fingers for you :)

I’m baaaaaaaack (:
sg12, I BELIEVE

WTH is with “sour grapes?” What does that even mean?

no idea???

“sour grapes” is a term used when someone is bitter over a loss, or a “sore loser”

I got rejected took, guys. Thanks for the good wished though!

Even though this thread is almost dead
I’m aiming for 4800

4800 10char^; I’m assuming we won’t reach 5000
