Awesome, what were his stats?
@AllizedQuant - I would be curious to know if he attened Stanford’s SUMaC program.
@Hoggirl I don’t think so. He does a math camp in Boston over the summer, so I don’t believe he’s been involved with Stanford’s before.
Sup everyone, I’ve pretty much been creeping the hell out of this forum in my desperation to hear back from Stanford. I got an Early Admit into Vanderbilt yesterday as my Valentine’s gift so the stakes aren’t as high but this is still my dream school… Oh yeah, @emenya it’s been interesting watching you through your application process because I am also black with a 35 ACT score lol. We have a lot in common from what I can tell.
Is it true that Stanford releases RD decisions the day after Ivies do?
Hey, does anyone know when the decisions will posted online for RD? Any help is extremely appreciated!
Is it true that Stanford releases RD decisions the day after Ivies do?
@Kashallover If the statement above proves to be true, then April 1st.
@arabm2 Are you sure that March 31st is the Ivy date? Because although the deferral letter from Harvard says 31st March, (they always say that), they often end up releasing results around the 26th or 27th of March. And yeah, Stanford usually is a day or two after the Ivies.
They have in the past. There seems to be some uncertainty as to exactly when Ivy day is this year. Most of the sites are saying “by” a certain date rather than an exact date.
As the time gets closer, an actual date will be released. The same thing happened last year. Last year it was Friday, March 28th at 3:00 pm pacific time. I wouldn’t be surprised if the date this year is March 27th. It’s nice for those who don’t get in to have some time to deal with it privately without immediately having to answer the “Did you get in?” question over and over.
@Kashallover According to collected online data, it is the 31st. There’s this Harvard report, check out the second-to-last paragraph.
http://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2014/12/977-admitted-to-class-of-2019-under-early-action/
Last year’s EA report had the 27th as the date of notification so I’m guessing it is in fact the 31st for the Class of 2019.
Thanks man! Big help!
You’re most welcome! xx
Ivy Day is March 31.
Hey everybody! So I’m an international applicant from Africa applying RD for Stanford. I’m not going for an engineering major, but it seems a lot of you here are! My SAT scores are appalling, and trust me when I say I’m not fishing for reassurances : they are the epitome of horrible lol My GPA is good (not stellar, when compared to all of the brainiacs on this forum) and I have mediocre EC’s (my country doesn’t really allow for extracurriculars). My essays were good and my recs were awesome. I heard admissions decisions are at the end of March / beginning of April. I can’t wait for my rejection :stuckouttongue:
Anyhoo, you all need to calm down when it comes to applying to Uni’s like Stanford and the Ivies. I know this is said a lot, but we have a tendency to ignore sensible advice when it regards something we really want. Remember, life doesn’t start or end with (or revolves around) a college acceptance: getting in does not guarantee you a happy life. Nor is not getting accepted going to ruin the rest of your days. You can successful by attending a normal college/university * and * get a chance to shine. For instance, Oprah went to Tennessee State (not an Ivy league obviously) and look at what she’s done with her life. Beyonce never even * went * to college, and Matt Damon, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerburg were Harvard dropouts. We have to take rejections in stride, say “Their Loss” (because really, it is) and - if it helps - flip a finger to the admissions page on their website :stuckouttongue:
So keep cool people, I wish you all the best. Good Luck!
Does anyone know if outstanding URM applicants often get likely letters or is it just people with really desirable, distinguished talents?
@stanfordhopeful4 A link to an old article about “likely” letter here.
http://www.stanforddaily.com/2010/03/29/some-applicants-told-of-likely-admission/
Good luck everyone! We all need it.
I keep hearing Ivy day is March 31st as well. It’s listed on the Cornell site too. So if this is true it looks like Stanford will release April 1.
Why is it that Stanford has to release decisions after Ivy Day anyway? I don’t really understand…
