***Stanford Class of 2019 Applicant Discussion***

I think people on this thread are confused STANFORD IS NOT AN IVY. :-/

I think that most people on this thread know that. The point that they are making is that Stanford has, at least for the last few years, released their decisions the day after the Ivies. That’s why people are trying to figure out when Ivy day will be.

Up until about 2 years ago there was a day when most of the schools in the northeast athletic conference would release their decisions on the “same” day. But, since then, most of the schools in recent years have gone their separate ways to release their decisions somewhat within 1 week of each other. The schools wanted to have their own “limelight” when they released their decision numbers in the EARLY round as well as in the REGULAR round. Certain members in the northeast did not always want to be overshadowed by a fellow northeast school(s) so they have switched around their decision dates in the past few years…you will notice the “actual” decision dates have not been very consistent among these schools. What Stanford’s admissions “enjoyed” doing was to wait to release their decisions and their outrageous numbers and statistics (pound Thor’s “hammer”) after “all” the schools in the northeast would release theirs…but, since the schools in the northeast have changed their “actual” release dates…Stanford admissions have had to strategically and surgically decide when best to release their “astonishing” numbers to get the most bang for the buck (publicity wise)…

…no matter what politically correct Stanford admissions “publicly” says…they do enjoy “shock and awe” by releasing the Kraken at the most appropriate time…

anyone else get a strangely worded alumni letter? it didn’t seem like it was a likely letter by any means but it was pretty lengthy and somewhat personalized towards my application. i feel like my ec’s could potentially be in that spectacular range, but my uw GPA (3.7-3.8ish) may be lacking for stanford.

Has anyone received any portal info from Stanford? I haven’t… Do they just email you the decision?

@appleface47‌ They email you if you are missing any credentials after Feb 10th and in Late March/Early April with your decision.

@Triviums‌ okay thanks! And I think it’s safe to assume that if I haven’t been asked to interview that I’ve been rejected? I just applied to Stanford for fun, my SATs were nowhere near high enough to get in. I live in SoCal, so I doubt it’s because there aren’t enough interviewers in my area

@appleface47. Did you know anything about Stanford before you applied…about their interview policies. They don’t interview Californians. Interviews are still in its infant stage and being rolled out very slowly. http://admission.stanford.edu/application/freshman/interviews.html

Has anyone received a likely letter yet from Stanford?

Do Stanford offer less interviews than most other competitive schools such as ivies? No one I know has been offered an interview in Texas, yet.

@fairyfantasy‌ Stanford only offers interviews in certain locations. It’s on their website. My state, California, does not get interviews.

@fairyfantasy Hey! (Another applicant from Texas) Stanford’s whole interview process is in it’s infant steps, so don’t worry if you get or don’t get an interview. During REA my friend got an interview but I didn’t. It’s all really random.

Everyone…we’re in March!!! MARCH! What?! It’s home stretch time

Yeah it’s March! It came so faster than I thought  :stuck_out_tongue:

I swear @emenya‌ is our guiding light. Anyways, if the results do come out on the 27th this year, we’re loking at 24 days!

@stilchs4‌ Well I do have a bright smile  lol but thanks, you know I’m going to be here until the very end

@emenya‌ trust me we are all going to be here until the very end: laughing, crying, etc etc…

@emenya‌ That’s too bad. Interviews would probably help me since I don’t have the most impressive application.

Looks like the release date was moved up to March 27th for Ivies. So Standford will be on 28th?

I would say it’s very likely to be the 28th.

Are all Ivy’s releasing decisions on the 27th? I’m so nervous even though I know I won’t get in. I don’t have a great SAT score.
