***Stanford Class of 2019 Applicant Discussion***

27th is a holiday in the US, or so I have been told and 28th is a saturday, I am not sure of any of the dates at this point. :-/

The 27th is not a holiday in the US, so that will not impact the release date. Stanford will probably let you know sometime soon when decisions will be released. We are all just basing this on what they’ve done in the past few years, but they could do something totally different this year.

Stopping by to say I was around at the start of the final stretch! The beginning of the end of this whole process. I had my interview in late Feb and it went really well, so I hope that helps me out some. Good luck!

@liz1497‌ I’ve heard both the 31st and 27th. If it really is the 27th, sorry for muddling things up. And I bet you’ll get in somewhere great. SAT’s aren’t everything (or else we’ve all been lied to, lol)!

Do you guys know if art supplements can carry a lot of weight? I read somewhere that stanford loves art-oriented people and athletes.
My SAT is high (2320), my GPA is low (3.7), and I’m in California so I couldn’t interview. As we get closer to the date I’m really freaking out and praying that the art supplements can help somewhat.

Good luck to everyone

Yes @Curlyllama‌ art suppleness are important. I met with the band director when I went there. He said that Stanford does not have enough music majors to fill their ensembles, so they have to look for the most gifted non-music majors around the nation in order to complete their music department.

So here’s how it goes (based on what I could infer): Stanford music faculty reviews the arts supplements and rates that musicians skill and talent. This gives admissions an idea of how gifted you really are. (Anyone can write an essay about their music experience).

That being said, the wishlist is the place you really want to be. The “wishlist” is assembled by the music department, and it contains only the best musicians. This list is also sent to admissions. It’s kind of like recruitment for sports. The music staff is telling admissions “You should admit this person because I want him/her to play in our ensembles.”

So in short, yes they do recognize superior artistic ability. I would assume this applies to the visual arts and other forms as well.

@WhatsStanford‌ thank you so much for that thorough answer!
There is hope!

All quiet on the western front…as the wind of freedom blows…

I got two emails from the College Board regarding submitting tax docs through IDOC. The first email gave me instructions on how to do this and the second told me to disregard the previous. Could the second email indicate that I was denied since it said to disregard the first email since it was mistakenly sent?

@kaufman123‌ I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with Stanford even if that was the only school you applied to that uses the profile. The CSS profile goes into more depth with your finances and sends it to certain schools. I doubt the schools send them acceptance info.

That seems more logical. I just don’t know why I wouldn’t need to submit my tax documents.

@kaufman123 I got the exact same email, I wouldn’t put too much stock into it

@kaufman123‌ and @whynotletitfly‌ If either of you filed taxes or your parents did, make sure you submit those forms through IDOC. The schools will need it to complete your FA award.

You know? I wish we could hibernate. Just close our eyes and Whoops!, t’s already decision day. I mean that would be useful lol

I spoke to IDOC on the phone that day. The first email was sent out mistakenly, the second email was just to acknowledge that.

The 27th is not a US holiday, but it is a California State holiday, Cesar Chavez Day.

I came here to ask if anyone could estimate a release date for decisions, but I see y’all are already trying haha. Didn’t Stanford release the day after the ivies last year? I hope they don’t continue that. I really don’t like how they’re releasing decisions later this year; don’t colleges realize students need as much time as possible to go and visit colleges after admissions decisions are released?

Stanford typically releases the day after the Ivies, so April 1 is our best bet.

Will we be required to submit tax information through IDOC at some point then?

@kaufman123 The deadline was 3/1 for most schools and the college board is about 3 weeks behind in processing the forms so you better hurry up and submit them as soon as possible.

Are the ivies definitely releasing on the 31st?
