Thank you @frodosdojo and @collegePapa
Ivies will probably release on the 28th
@fdizzle why do you say that? cornell seems to say that ivy day is the 31st
http://admissions.cornell.edu/news/regular-decision-applicants
Ivy day has already been clearly established as the 31st this year
@BluCyanide
What is this 2005ish outdated portal that Stanford has? I have only seen the Axess email system.
I’m saying this because colleges usually release a couple of days ahead of their announced date. I guess time will tell

I was emotionally attached to Stanford for a really long time. Finally I asked myself why. Just because my mom went there and its US News and World Report ranking weren’t good answers and I couldn’t think of better ones. I saw someone post on here that they “need to go to Stanford,” but why? Because “it’s perfect.” What does that even mean? I feel like kids and parents get hung up on prestige. I, for most of high school, was the same way. But I eventually realized that other schools exist beyond Stanford, Duke, MIT, the Ivies, and fill in the high prestige blank. There are other really great schools where you can have awesome experiences. I met a kid who said that if he didn’t get into Stanford he would have to live knowing that “life could be better if I was at Stanford.” Wtf. This scares me. I’ve detached myself from the school and I feel way better. I was constantly worrying about doing enough EC things and my test scores and if I would be good enough. But I’ve come to terms with what I accomplished in high school and accepted that the chances of getting in no matter what are extremely slim. I know really awesome people who are at great grad schools and leading successful careers who got rejected. When I don’t get in it will still hurt, don’t get me wrong and I’ll probably shed a tear like a gangsta, but the world will continue to turn. I don’t “need Stanford” to be successful in life. My life will be just as good wherever I end up going to college, whether it be Stanford, UCSB, or UMiami. Idk just some of my thoughts. It frustrates me to see kids get so into name and prestige…idk
good luck to y’all
@Goinwittheflow Nice thoughts! Aim high, work for it and prepare for eventualities!
@Goinwittheflow Thanks for this! I think it’s a great attitude to have. I, too, feel very attached to Stanford personally, and sometimes I have to ask myself why.
@Goinwittheflow great piece - you deserve a medal
@nandroida oh that’s what i was talking about. The whole “please request your status update, because well, we are too lazy to set up a cool nice looking portal” thing… what baffles me is I still would go nuts if I get accepted and they ask me to go check status with Windows 2000
Don’t they usually post the decisions a bit earlier though? I know the date is currently the 31st but people are speculating the 26th or 27th?
does anyone knwo the notification date?
They usually post their decisions one day after the Ivy League schools post theirs.
@binatang April 1st, and I think we’ll get emails with our decisons
Hey, guys!
With the notification date just around the corner, I was wondering, has anyone — who isn’t a recruited athlete or anything like that — received a likely letter from Stanford? Please, be honest and reply affirmatively only if you have actually received one. Thank you!
On other note, the nerves are eating me alive… :’-(
@Visionary123. Do not fret. Stanford gives out very very few LL…they don’t even send them out to Intel top grand-prize winners, top international musicians, top CS talent, top award winning writers, top actors…
…be patient…patience is a virtue.
Thank you so much for your feeback, @gravitas2, I really appreciate it! I know patience is a virtue I need to work on. But, I just want to get in so badly!
@Visionary123 it is another week or so for the results to come. Generally Stanford releases the results a couple of days earlier than their announced date.
Yeah, I know, @collegePapa. I just hope the results are favorable… Wait, let me rephrase that: The results are going to favorable! #Stanford19
