hey all, i just realized that my counselor did not send my mid year report to stanford - does stanford send emails out to people when they are missing documents? because i never got an email from them about this
someone correct me if i’m wrong, but i believe your midyear report can be uploaded onto the common app, where it is automatically processed at the colleges you’ve applied to through it. at least, that’s how it worked for me! it’s a bit late to do anything now, but if anything, try to contact stanford to see what can be done.
@lilavocado ^^^^ yes that’s true
Only 2 weeks remaining… I’M SWEATING
Rip
Already nervous…
@wherewillibe2021 Contact Stanford ASAP or you may not receive a decision.
Be nice in your email and explain how your counselor has still not submitted it, and how you would prefer that their mistake not be the deciding factor in your admissions decision. @wherewillibe2021
Better yet, call.
@math3matical thanks for the advice! I just called them, and they said they have made most decisions already. I can’t really do anything now, oh well
Hey guys,
Accepted student from the REA round here! The best advice I can give to you is to just breathe. All of the hard work is complete, likely by the admissions office too, so there is no point to sit and ponder. Happy St. Patrick’s Day, may the luck of the Irish be with you.
Hey guys! I received a RD likely letter from Harvard in Feb. and was ecstatic and thought maybe I do have a chance at Stanford. But today I was rejected from Northwestern and waitlisted by UChicago, so I’m not so sure anymore.
Oh well. Good luck everyone!
@dumpsterswimmer well a likely letter from Harvard would make my life and I certainly wouldn’t care about those rejections/waitlists. even if you don’t get into Stanford, it seems as though admissions decisions this year are really unpredictable so don’t feel bad… plus, there’s always Harvard
Good luck everyone
good luck guys! we can do this! the wait is almost over- thank goodness
@dumpsterswimmer Just to ride on your comment, my kid got into Stanford REA (no hooks) but got denied from UCLA in pretty much the same non-STEM major. I mean, UCSD had a better program in this area than UCLA! UCLA was supposed to be a back-up school. lol OK, seriously, UCSD was an absolute safety with UCLA as potentially 3rd choice. My kid told me “Good thing I got into Stanford early because I would be somewhat concerned by now.” My kid, after having observed his classmates’ acceptances/denials tells me that what concerns/baffles him is the pure randomness of decisions which forces some students to apply to as many colleges as possible. My kid only applied to 4 or 5 though.
Basically, my kid was deemed by Stanford to possess a great “intellectual vitality” and accomplishments while UCLA rejected him without even waitlisting him even though he’s an in-state. And my kid worked on his UC applications essays just as hard as he worked on Stanford’s essays. Therefore, do not judge yourself too harshly if you get rejected from any college.
One difference is UCs don’t require recommendation letters but imo that shouldn’t have made any difference.
As I follow-up to my above post, I “think” I figured out why my kid “might” have been rejected by UCLA. UCLA, being a competitive school, might have checked my kid’s Facebook page and his blogs which he specifically mentioned in his essays as examples of his work. On there, he happily posted that he already decided to attend Stanford with a large photo etc. If I were a UCLA Admissions Officer, I would also reject him flat out on the ground opening spots at UCLA should be offered to someone who has not already made up his mind. Therefore, a lesson to be learned is that if you are waiting for decisions from some schools where you might want to go (not in our case), don’t proclaim you will be going to so and so college before other schools issue decisions.
This is just something I have always wondered, but do you think that admission officials have fake instagram accounts that they use to request private students? I’m curious because I often let people follow me who I don’t know, and of course one of them could be an AO.
I doubt public school AO will check social medias with over 100k applicants.
I have no expectations of being admitted, so if it does happen itll be a pretty nice surprise! Good luck to everyone who applied, and don’t let this envelope you for the next 12 or so days! Success can be found anywhere, even if it isn’t the school of our dreams
