Stanford Class of 2021 Applicant Discussion

… A loophole in the admission process?
Something’s not right :o

i wanna call but i dont want an early rejection

@samc24 Exactly what I was thinking.
@ammielove I feel you so much. Are you gonna call? I’m thinking I will, just get it over with.

@samc24 It is not really a loophole. Most people won’t call asking to be looked up in the system. Plus, I told Stanford admissions about it after.

Wait so if you have a Stanford ID that basically means you’re admitted???

@mackyg Didn’t you say you had an id number too? How/where did you see it?

I’m confused. Is this loophole real, like, does it actually work? Who exactly are you people calling, the admissions office? And lastly, where did the first guy said he saw his student ID?

Update:
I called them, the IT desk. They gave me a student ID when I called, however, I do not see an ID number yet on my applicant portal. I do not know if this means I was admitted, as this method has not really been confirmed. But I’ll come back here on decision day to let you guys know if I was actually admitted. Wish me luck

Is anyone calling/has already called?

Lol. I made an account to answer @KG5APR. When my good friend got accepted earlier this year, he got his SUID almost immediately, but he was not able to login with it anywhere until it got approved after four or five days. This leads me to believe that any applicant can get an SUID, so having an SUID is not necessarily a sign of acceptance. However, being able to sign in to websites like admit.stanford.edu with your SUID is. Unless @KG5APR is able to sign into admit.stanford.edu, then we have no idea what it means. Thus, don’t worry about it and certainly don’t call Stanford asking for your SUID (which leave you as uncertain as before).

@AzHist But I believe they told @KG5APR that an id haa been assigned but its pending allotment. So maybe that means it’ll be allotted once decisions are out or something? That’s just my understanding really.

Everyone has an SUID as soon as they submit their application. Google “cathincollege admissions,” where a stanford student looks at their admissions file. She said that the SUID was written at the top of everyone’s application. Everyone has them, regardless of whether they are admitted or not. Just wait until Friday.

Has anyone received a letter/email for missing financial aid documents from stanford? I heard from that’s a way to tell if you’ve been accepted

@applying2017 and everyone else, I am sorry for the stress I have caused. I don’t know what any of this means. I just know what IT has told me. IT said that they are pretty sure only admitted students have a UID. As for the CathinCollege answer, it was on her file and she was admitted. Therefore, it does not prove either case. That is all I know. If you have more questions about my specific situation, PM me.

When they created the application file (when the SUID was printed), she wasn’t admitted yet. They need a system to organize applications.

Also, I find it hard to believe that IT would know whether non-admitted students received SUIDs. All they know is that people who show up to campus have them, as they have no experience with non-admitted applicants.

The CathInCollege example proves that all applicants, as soon as their application file is created, are designated SUIDs. Stop calling the poor IT folks at Stanford and just wait until Friday.

The CathInCollege thing does not disprove, for 2 reasons, we don’t know at what point in the application process admissions officers wrote it on there, and we also don’t know whether it is only admitted student IDs that IT has access to, of if it is all the IDs. We don’t know for sure how their system works, so that example from CiC isn’t proof or disproof. Also, when I called them, they asked me if I wanted to make some type of account after giving me the id. That might be an important detail I left out. Or it might not. I told them I would call them back, because I didn’t want to prod too far.

Edit:
Someone told me that they called and they didn’t receive an ID from IT. I’m willing to admit it might be them messing with me.

Fun fact: cath in college was a senior at my school when I was a freshman. We had french class together

@ZBlue17 I’m pretty sure that tells you nothing. I’ve gotten missing financial aid emails from colleges I ultimately got rejected from

WOOOOOO STANFORD!
