Hey, guys! I’m currently a freshman at Stanford. I remember being this nervous as decision day approached, and now I’m also stressing about my brother’s decisions, so I completely understand where you’re all coming from. I know Stanford’s extremely selective, but just know that you’re all incredibly talented and hard working individuals; any college will be lucky to have you people! Hopefully, I’ll get to see some of you this coming fall! Good luck.
Is it even possible to be rejected from all four Ivies I applied to and admitted to Stanford? LOL I’M CRYING
Honestly, I just feel as if my future has fallen into that abysmal pit of uncertainty again since I’ve literally got nowhere else to turn to if Stanford ends up rejecting me, which I think they’ve already done.
@writernwriters I generally agree, but SAT/ACT measures speed, not intelligence or deep thinking. Obviously, SAT/ACT has nothing to do with how well someone writes. I am a perfect example of someone who does very well in standardized tests but who doesn’t get good grades because I read quickly to get the essence of subject matter but get bored easily to delve deeply.
@writernwriters Yes, Stanford looks for slightly different qualities imo. From your comments, I can see that you have the ability to appreciate and empathize with others, so who knows?
Well, finally decided to make a CC account because I can’t take the waiting anymore.
I just got rejected from what I hoped would be my backup school and I’m yet to get into any school I wanted to go to. At this point I would give just about anything to be able to go back and apply to a couple more schools or polish up my applications. If I don’t manage to somehow sneak into Stanford, I honestly have no idea what I am going to do with my life.
Yeah same. McDonald’s said I could start early though, so I have other options…
@26desert Didn’t you apply to any safeties? Any possibles? I mean, these top twenty schools are a reach for everybody .
When does S announce acceptances/rejections? Tomorrow? Or when?
@26desert didn’t you apply to any matches and financial safeties that you LIKE???
@mom2collegekids - they announce tomorrow at 4pm PST
Lol I got rejected by one Ivy and waitlisted by the other, but I did get into Cal. Honestly I am expecting NOTHING from Stanford tomorrow, and as far as I am concerned, the college admissions process has ended for me. Good luck to each and every one of you; I hope you’re happy with wherever you end up going
@26desert There are schools that will take late applicants (U of AZ I think, others) - or there’s gap year and apply to some more next year. In CA a good option would be community college and transfer to UC. Save $$$. A son of a friend ended up at Columbia grad school with honors taking that route.
Lowkey done with stressing bc I just got into Berkeley, my first choice!! I hope everyone finds the same sense of accomplishment tomorrow that I have at the moment. Good luck CC fam!!
@snicks1234 @patertrium Yeah, I have my local state schools so I guess it’s not the end of the world, just a lot different than I had hoped.
Got rejected by ivies and cal and pretty much all the colleges except state schools lol. Life kinda sucks but stanford is the last to go. Good luck to everyone!
@websensation Wow, thank you! I hope with all my heart to get into Stanford, but it’s been really frustrating and discouraging to see all those rejection letters from top schools. Maybe I’m just not what they’re looking for… I’m pretty ordinary. Anyway, your kind words have brightened my day!
@Top10Squad
Same here – I dig both the tech and the fuzz lol. I’m anxiously waiting for tomorrow’s release, and I wish the best to you, as well! If I were to give some advice – START ESSAYS EARLY. And the CommonApp. STUDY HARD for those standardized tests. Practice literally makes perfect. I hope you have a great spring/summer!
I feel the pain too… I applied to 15 schools and so far I have gotten into 3, one of which is a local state school, and 5 waitlists. After looking at this thread I realize things could be worse but it still sucks… Good luck to the select few who get accepted tomorrow.
Still hopin’ that Stanford admissions officers held to that “holistic” reviewing process :)) :(( :-SS 8-|
Welp, I applied to 20 schools.
Accepted:
UNC-Chapel Hill
NC State
UNCC, Appalachian, Queens (safties)
Waitlisted:
Dartmouth
Columbia
JHU
UChicago
Brown
Denied:
Rest of Ivies
Duke
Please Stanford, accept me. I literally won’t be able to go to college if I don’t get in, since my parents can’t afford public schools. sigh.
