I personally haven’t read much into the whole date change argument. We truly won’t know until the acceptance day of decisions, so I choose to leave it alone.
My portal changed to 03/04

All interviews went great, especially Harvard

@TheBeyonder a 4 in extracurricular isn’t average EC’s; it’s almost no EC’s. According to the Harvard lawsuit, getting a 4 on the extracurricular rating put you in the bottom 5% of applicants for extracurricular involvement, i think your descriptors for both a 3 and a 2 also overstate the level of involvement necessary to earn in the rating; less than 0.5% of applicants earned an extracurricular one, but almost one quarter earned an extracurricular two, and more than 70% earned a three. Well my son would be a 4 prob for EC’s. But he was in a Covered Calif commercial a few years back and also played in a steel drum ensemble. But he is on the autism spectrum, talks about it in his essay and is Questbridge so hopefully they will take that into account and they’ll let his great essay’s make up a bit for the EC loss.
The date on my portal for SAT scores just changed to today’s date 03/21. It hasn’t changed since i appied before now. I’m international. Could there be any meaning or theories to this sudden change.
@apmaster10 The post I made that for, was the UCs, and was my take on the system. It’s really all up to arbitrariness and many factors that we dont know about. This is as close as I got that I believe makes sense. I did say it was MY take on the system.
Mine still hasn’t changed.
I’m freaking out thinking whether my application was discarded in the first reading itself.
Well, to add to that, my interview wasn’t that great too.
@whatsmypassword Mine still hasn’t changed either. 4.0/4.0, 36 ACT, 3x800 SAT2, great EC’s, great recs, and an amazing (and very long) interview.
That being said, I don’t believe have any better shot than the next person. It is basically a lottery and Stanford could fill its class 10-20 times over (maybe even more) with equally qualified, amazing kids.
Stanford is just a super long shot for anyone.
I wouldn’t read into the date change thing. As I have posted before, there are so many people that have the date change and so many people that do not. I seriously doubt all those with date changes are getting in or all those with no date changes are getting in. It just seems there are far too many people in each camp to be indicative of acceptance given Stanford’s almost certain sub-5% acceptance rate.
Assuming an acceptance rate of 5%, we would expect 1 out of 20 to have the date change or not have the date change if it were to be truly indicative of acceptance. Even assuming College Confidential posters are the most diligent and may have on a slightly better chance of acceptance than the average Stanford applicant, there is no way I believe that “CC” advantage boosts acceptance rates 10x from 1 in 20 to 10 in 20, which it would have to be if either change or no change is indicative of acceptance given that it seems to be pretty close to 50/50 here with change/no change.
I urge everyone to just relax. We will all know very soon. And if you are in the running for Stanford, chances are that even if you aren’t admitted to Stanford, you will be admitted to some place amazing and have a great time and after a few days at your new school you will feel you never could have gone anywhere else!
Good luck everyone!
@MrRobot2018 Well I kinda feel better now.
Thanks for that lol!
Are decisions coming out April 1 or next Friday (last Friday of March)?
i think its the day after ivy day but im not sure
@am_lalo If it just changed, that means it probs changed around 6AM PT. I doubt they work at that time? Maybe a delay in the system? This is interesting!!!
I don’t when it changed but yesterday it wasn’t there
I saw the change only today
Same no change for me yet
Anyone knows RD Notification day?
We live in San Diego and know 4 people locally that have already been accepted to Stanford (3 on sport scholarships from a high school in our district) and one further south in San Diego. Is it true that Stanford caps the number of acceptances in regions or cities? Is there no hope?
