WHO CARES! Let’s all spend time on things that make us happy and that are productive. We can’t do anything about any of this, so whatever let it go
Hi there! Yes I’m a student from lb poly and YES! We have (I think) 5 students that got accepted to Stanford and 2/3 that are being waitlisted from EA. Its so unusual because last year stanford only took 2 from early AND from regular so I guess this year we were just a little more exposed. If that made any sense. Not so sure.
Meanwhiles, my kids school has no one going to Stanford and everyone going to State and CC’s and a few UC’s. It amazes me that there are feeder schools for the elite colleges that take multiple students. Eye opener for sure.
Why does it say my application status is temporarily unavailable?
Sometimes it really does depend on the school with aspects like it’s population size and level of competition. I attend a notoriously competitive public school in Texas and every year 1 to 3 students regularly go to Stanford and a few others go to a fair share of Ivy League schools and UC’s. It might also have to do with the scope and ambition of the student population. One observation I had of this was when I recently went to another high school for a robotics competition and looked at the colleges that students from the class of 2019 had been accepted to. The most difficult schools that some of the students had been accepted to were UT-Austin, Trinity, and Baylor. This school had about half the student population of my own and less academic rigor but was still in a comparable economic/income range.
Stanford is the final application my daughter is waiting to hear from at this point. I wish they would just release and get it over with! Obviously an extreme reach school for most applicants, but you never know unless you apply!
Accepted: Harvey Mudd (full 4 yr. tuition), UCI CHP, UCSB Chancellor’s invite, SDSU Weber Honors College, and CSU Fullerton honors program.
Waitlisted: UCSD and UCLA
Rejected: USC
@TheBeyonder Really curious as to where you got that scale from! Is it actually used in the admission process? I’m a bit skeptical because I have never seen it before.
@TheBigGrapeFruit Look up “Harvard’s Admissions Process, Once Secret, Is Unveiled in Affirmative Action Trial” and you’ll see they do a 1-5 category admissions process. Additionally, its the same of UCB, and most likely, other UCs and Ivies.
Do we know if Stanford will announce the date for decision releases ahead of time? Like can expect them to send an email out this week or post something on social media announcing what day they’ll release decisions, or do they generally just kind of drop them on the portal without notice?
Monitor the Stanford admissions Twitter feed. And good luck to all…
What is the date everyone is predicting for releasing decisions? My daughter is finding it difficult to wait for all these decisions.
@collegedadto3 Mar 29
I looked on this message board yesterday to see if anyone had an idea when Stanford would release decisions, and it was the first time I heard of the mysterious portal change. I checked my daughter’s portal and it was updated that day, 3/24, lol. I feel like getting accepted to Stanford is a bit like winning the lottery. But you can’t get in if you don’t give it a shot, so congratulations to everyone for giving it a chance. Good luck to all!
@fntzmk: 4 yrs paid tuition at Mudd is a fabulous offer. Students I know who’ve gone have had amazing experiences both academically and in internships. Having that generous offer in the bag has to be reassuring! Congrats to your D!
@“Idaho Father” Thanks. Yes, it is nice to have, for sure! She is still not sure about the “best fit” as she has multiple interests she wants to persue. Time will tell.
No portal change for my daughter, and she received in mid March a likely letter from Cornell engineering. We are grateful for that.
I can’t believe it’s all going to unfold this week - we welcome the clearing of the picture! Good luck to everyone!
Same here, @coffeemomCO. No portal change, and a Cornell likely letter for diversity hosting. Also very grateful for that now that I’m down to the wire on all the rest.
Did anyone ever get a “likely” letter and then not be admitted?
It’s official; Stanford is releasing decisions this Friday at 4 pm pst! It says on their admissions site. Good luck to all
