@heythereyall
Hi,
I’ll be applying next year and also scored a 3 on AP chem lol. We have very similar demographics so I thought I’d reach out to you and ask if you sent in that score. Thanks for your help

Congratz to all accepted!! I decided to enroll, so I hope to meet those of you enrolling in class of 2024!!

Good letters of rec

@ejhockey31
Hey! I was accepted and I got a 3 on AP chem too. On my other AP’s, I got 2 5’s and 3 4’s. There are many who got mostly or all 5’s that may have been waitlisted or rejected, so really one score is a small part of your application. My counselor always told me, as a rule of thumb, to submit all your scores. Besides, I applied as an Economics major, so a weakness in chemistry isn’t a huge deal. Don’t stress too much about test scores; essays and letters of rec are where it’s at. Best of luck to you (:

@ejhockey31, I too would not worry about. My D also got a 3 on her very first AP exam and it later turned out she added Stanford as one of four colleges to receive free reports, and apparently it didn’t weigh her down. Colleges understand that things happen, especially with exams that cannot be retaken, students get sick, or may just be having a bad day. If that 3 is an outlier rather than a pattern, you are totally fine.

1320 SAT
4.0 gpa unweighted/ 4.8 weighted

Accepted! Stanford was my dream college, and I wasn’t expecting this.

rank: 25/220
6 5s and 2 4s

Accepted too! Blessed and still shocked as Stanford accepted 2 students from her high school. Any info on financial aid yet? We didn’t see any.

Accepted: Stanford, Duke, UW-Madison, university of Florida-Gainsville.

Rejected: Harvard, Yale, Princeton,

Waitlisted: UPenn, Columbia

Hey there everyone
Got rejected straight up, have to say I’m a little disappointed lol. But then again, I should’ve gone into this knowing that my chances were basically nil.
I’m an international student and I asked for financial aid, and I think it’s a shame that top universities like Stanford pass up the opportunity to accept equally or even brighter children to accept students from the United States (they accept around 200-250 international students every year). With that, I’d like to say that even though Stanford was my dream school and I have another year to reapply because I have to serve in the army, I’d rather not apply to a school that’s made up it’s mind not to accept me.

Stats: 1580 SAT, 800 Math 2, 790 Chem, 750 Physics
Grades: straight A’s (except a B in chem), predicted grades: straight A*s
Recommendation letters: 9/10, 10/10
essays: best part of my application, spent almost two months on them.

EC’s: was lead bassist for music performances hosted for thousands of people, led the video game production club in our school, won two game jams, coached the two teams that came first and second place for another two years, interned with an IT Security firm and the software development team of our school’s organization. Played music for a leading rally in India to save our dying rivers. Taught at a school for underprivileged children. Developed a software for our school’s organization to generate reports on scholarship students’ performance in class.

Weaknesses in my application: I’m Asian, and an international student and I asked for financial aid. My EC’s probably don’t look like a lot in front of some kids that solved cancer or created a homeless shelter for old people. No national awards or anything.

Comments: Next stop MIT

@Kailash331 I feel your disappointment but don’t lose sight of the fact that you have alot to give and the right school will benefit from that and you will look back and glad it worked out this way. When one door closes, another one opens. This will only make you stronger. A setback is a setup for a comeback! Best wishes!

@Kailash331 MIT is my son’s dream school. He is in 10th grade and on track.

@Kailash331 You sound like an excellent candidate! I’d like to read your essays if that’s possible.

Congratulations to all the students who got accepted! Your hard work paid off!

Congratulations to all the students who got acceptance from
Stanford ! Hard school to get in!

Did anyone get financial aid award along with the admit letter? We applied for financial aid but didn’t see any on the admit letter. Or do Stanford release financial aid on April 1st.

@Luvbadgers , there should be 2 letters in your application portal, 1 acceptance letter, 1 financial aid. First time we logged in was only acceptance letter, logged in again and we see finaid letter displayed.

Hey @Michiedel,
thank you for the support! I guess I was just a bit put out by the fact that I got rejected but you’re right, a lot of options are open.

@GAParent2017 when my daughter log into her Stanford portal and under status update, we click view update and only saw the admit letter with confetti. ā€œIt stated that an update to your application was last posted March 27, 2020ā€.

Under the heading for Forms:
It only shows ā€œStanford admission responseā€

Should there be an other area to look for the financial aid or do we create axess? I checked idoc and Stanford received our documents before the deadline. I went back and sent fafsa to Stanford today so hope it’s not too late.

@Luvbadgers, when we scroll down to the bottom of the browser, it list the two documents like

The following letters are available for this account:

  • March 27, 2020 (displayed)
  • Financial Aid Information - March 27, 2020 *******************************************************************

If the FinAid is not there, you may have to call the office on Monday. I doubt it is too late to submit FASFA/CSS, you just have to wait for 10 days for them to arrive/process.

BTW, the above list shows up after you click ā€œView Updatesā€
