Stanford Class of 2024 (entering 2020), Regular Decision

@GAParent2017 when we clicked update, it went straight to the admit letter only…nothing else is there. Will call financial aid tomorrow. Thanks

Do you intend on opting in to the waitlist? If so, what is the absolute final deadline that one must accept the waitlist spot by?

I would be very interested in seeing your essays. Did you finally get in? By the way, I am very fond of your country (as well as your country’s airline-so sad the seriously very sad situation we find ourselves in, and feel somewhat like my country, US and. it’s wonderful (not) President is partially responsible. Reduce CDC budget by. 85%?? hummmm…anyways, if you could share and let me know if you got in I would be very interested. You are obviously a very smart young ma!

@rodsren Who are you referring to? Also, I find it rather surprising that you mention the U.S. being responsible for the corona-virus pandemic without even mentioning China.

@uscappeal2020 Did you appeal your USC decision?

For anyone still interested in taking a gap year, my D’s AO advised she could declare a deferred/gap year up through freshman orientation in mid-September (in case any plans fall through at the last minute.). Not sure if they are as accommodating every year, or just this time, but it is definitely helpful that Stanford is willing to hold the spot in the dorms for someone up til the last minute.

Hi…would love to read your essays if you could share them

Where did you end up going? @j_florez211

CA COVID cases are increasing a lot. Many friends are taking gap year now. Anyone else? I will do that and Be well.

@JoeCali My kid also took a gap year.

What are students doing for gap years? There don’t seem to be many good options.

Also, is Stanford limiting the number of deferrals or granting them to anyone who asks?

Stanford provided a deadline of June 15 to make a decision to CO 2024. Stanford did not seem to require any particular reason to request deferral.

My daughter is going to Russia for a year, to their equivalent of Georgetown, to study Russian. She researched the program before covid, and didn’t want to give up. Our neighbor who also got into Stanford is also taking a gap year, but I am not sure she is doing anything special.

Wonder if Stanford will do something similar to what Harvard is planning to do with students that will not be on campus. Per Harvard news release today pertaining to online learning and housing, “ Aided students who do not return to campus will receive a $5,000 remote room and board allowance in their financial aid award each semester to support studying at home.”

Do something interesting this year is a better choice.

California COVID situation, we decide to visit campus next year.

90% California schools will be online unless infection improves. Will the rest of the country follow this approach as daily cases surpass 70,000?

Daughter just received revised new financial aid from Stanford and the Stanford scholarship was reduced by about $10k. Don’t know if this is due to student not living on campus anymore or not. Just wondering if any frosh or Stanford student financial aid was also reduced. Parents have no extra income.
