I think that intl admissions this year were worst than ever. I remember people in pre-covid got acceptances like candy without having super impressive stats ot profiles. Maybe just maybe they’re preparing for some kind of recession or so. The # of applicants with amazing stats that were rejected everywhere is insane

I know and the worst part is that he can’t stop comparing himself, and I’m just like why do these colleges force you to compare yourself to your peers and force this lesserness that people feel when they don’t get into a school but someone else does.

Any college is a business. They need money to run operations. If some family is a good benefactor, likely their kids will follow the line.
Colleges accept students based on a variety of factors. Academics is just one of those, but probably not the most important for some institutions.
