asterix means I did it all four years, otherwise assume 10-12

I am Asian Indian, if that makes any difference at all. I also have scoliosis, and was wondering, should I even think about incorporating that into me admissions package?

Colleges: Stanford, Princeton, Cornell, Yale

What are my chances!? What could I build on? Im not a senior yet, but this is whta my resume would look like assuming i continued with all activites through the end of senior year. but assume i am a senior, and tell me if, at the current standings, i could get anywhere at all.

thanks so much!

anyone? any advice at all?

unless you’re in a wheelchair or something, if try to make excuses with your scoliosis it’s gonna look laaame. focus on your strengths.

do you have a link to your artwork?

no sorry! no link yet. sometimes, the shows where they are showcased at or are for sale at will have a photograph of it, but i would have to hunt those web addresses down (just curious - did you mention the link because you wanted to have a look or for college purposes…)

you said to focus on my strengths - form my stats, is there anything that stands out to you? basically, do i stand a chance with the ivies?

the cello and art looks especially good because it shows committment. you should definately express interest in continuing both in college. and yeah, don’t talk alot about scoliosis.

i want to be a lawyer, or into politics when i grow up and so i am trying to do lots of stuff involving government - mun, model legislatures, youth and gov program, youth city council -

does this stuff all seem just like fillers? because it is totally not - everything on that list regarding government and such was through an application or interview process. is there any way to convey this in my app.?

wait, are you a junior?

and are you in leadership for any of this (MUN, JSA)?

dude. you sound so much like me.
MUN
JSA
Asian Indian
etc.etc.

Wait, with 2300+ on SAT’s, near perfect GPA, and a ****load of EC’s even as a junior… and you want to know if you have any chance?

damn right you have a chance, if any of us do.

gosh, thanks you guys!

but, im actually a sophomore - ill start doing leadership positions in junior year. right now, the only leadership position i have is being section leader in our orchestra.

i actually didnt get a 2300 on the SATs. that SAT score came from what i got on the PSATs this year. I got 2100 in PSATS, so I thought by senior year, i should be able to raise that by 200 points. Or is a 200 point raise kind of a stretch?

I got a 2230 on the PSATs and a 2010 on the SATs. I lost 200 points. I think it just depends.

oh no. thats not good.

LOL. Way to scare sophomores, Jimmy.

ok - so i guess i will need to work on my SAT score. what other activities would you guys say im lacking?

lots of people at my school say that it is impossible to go to a good college if you dont play sports. Im really not a sports person at all - im into the arts, music, and speech.

will not being in sports be a serious drawback when it comes to my application time?

bump!!!

“will not being in sports be a serious drawback when it comes to my application time?”

I very much doubt it. What do they care that you play sports if you are not good enough to compete for them? Just have other extracurriculur activities that show you are active and friendly, and I’m sure everything will be okay.

BTW, on the PSAT/SAT thing, I did not study at all, ever, for either. I think if I retook the SATs I would have just as good a chance at getting a 2400 as a 2000 again. The short reading passages must interest me for me to perform well in them, and the math is just easy to begin with. Writing is just crap. If I looked up all the idioms and popped out my 6th grade notebook for an hour, I would think I could do much better.

Just trust yourself. I am a unique case because I am very lacksadaisical and careless about things I am not much interested in (such as spelling), but if I am interested, I can outperform anyone who is put up against me. I may take the SATs again because I have the same score as a friend, so I want to beat him. If I do, I’ll let you know my new score.

well, i didnt study at all for the PSATs, but i am planning on taking some prep courses for the SATs. Hopefully, all will turn out for the better. And good luck with your scores too!

Just a question: If you are a sophomore then how are you a National Merit Finalist, seeing as that’s impossible?

I was just supposing - if i had the minimum PSAT score, then i thought that would at least make me a contender for it. anyhow, thats one of my goals. almost nothing on that list is 100% already set in stone, but just what i think might happen or what im working towards and preparing for.

:)

bumppppp -

any fresh opinions = much appreciation

dont worry about making me feel bad, i will hold no grudges :)

bumpitty bump bump
