Anyone else unable to withdraw from the waitlist? After a couple of visits to MIT, DS decided that it is the best fit for him. We tried to withdraw but was unable to. Is it just too late to withdraw?

Probably just email the admissions office, or add the info as a 500 character update.

No, the person claimed on a private, anonymous chatting platform that he got off last Monday. Other members are doubting him as he added that he was leaning towards CMU over Stanford.

Do anyone know why there aren’t much acceptance (rather than this private anonymous claim) compared to the Class of 2027. Their page shows acceptances as early as April 6th, and there is a lot. Did they over admit and therefore don’t need much actions on the WL this year?

Maybe they’ll start taking people off the waitlist after May 1st after everyone’s committed and has decided where they’re going off to

They had about 1,200 admitted students out of a class of about 1,700 attend their weekend, so I would guess that is a good sign.

I was told last year 1300 plus students attended admit weekend

But in the year 2022, when almost no one was picked up from the wl, only 1150 showed up.:sob:

NVM, the year 2022, covid was still around and it makes sense that less people showed up.

We’ll have a clear picture now as everyone has committed, the space can now be determined I believe, its all on yield now

Can anyone call the admissions office and ask them about the waitlist results. Last year this time many students were getting off the waitlist. It’s making me anxious as the day passes.

I can’t do that because I am an international student. They don’t ask about your information as said by students in the previous threads.

Same. From my investigation, from the years that Stanford took more than 50 from the wl, there were at least some actions before May 1st. This year, it was completely quiet. I am starting to believe that they won’t take anyone.

if possible, could you call the admission office and ask them what they are planning and what they plan to do with waitlist. They will not ask your information.
