Stanley Cup playoffs 2012!

Let’s go Wings! Who else is playing tonight?

More importantly- let’s go Whalers! They’re in game 7 tonight against Kitchner so it’s all or nothing.

Let’s go Devils!

Let’s go Hawks! I’ll be asleep before the game is over.

I agree with your analysis of the situation.

BTW, looks like Marchand is trying to make the 2012 Olympic diving team =P

what Whalers are these? One of the Canadian junior leagues? The only Whalers I know are from Hartford, and they are long gone (or, turned into the Carolina Hurricanes).

^ OHL. Haha sorry, I mentioned it earlier in the thread. They lost though. Season is over :(

Way to go, PREDS!!!

Holy crap, this sh** has got to stop:

I predict 20 games.

… and my Wings lost.

Super sick, Whalers out of the playoffs, Wings one away. I can just not catch a break this week.

notrich- OMG. What is with these players leaving their feet to do headchecks? I’ve seen more of that in this post season that I EVER have before. That is extremely dirty hockey and NOT OK by any stretch of the imagination.

When are these guys going to get it under control? Ugh. Best wishes to Hossa.

Hopefully very soon. It’s been ridiculous.

There were seven suspensions in all of last year’s playoffs. The entire playoff season. There have already been seven this year (Torres will be #8 undoubtedly) and the first round isn’t close to being finished.

I’m glad I didn’t see the hit on Hossa. Latest is he is doing OK, but not known if he’ll play. Hawks lost in another OT game.

I wish the guys would play clean like they do in the Olympics.

Plus the missed suspension to Weber-- which was a huge mistake by Shanahan. If he’d lowered the boom on Weber, maybe some of the other players would have gotten the message.

I agree CF. The fact that Weber didn’t get suspended because Z wasn’t hurt is a terrible message to send.

Wow, Torres has been suspended indefinitely for the hit on Hossa:

[NHL suspends Raffi Torres indefinitely for hit on Marian Hossa - NHL - SI.com](<a href=“cnnsi.com - cnnsi Resources and Information.”>cnnsi.com - cnnsi Resources and Information.)

I’ve often thought that for cheap shots like Torres’ that cause injury, you should be suspended for at least as long as the injured player is out.

Good.

I’m thinking it will be ultimately somewhere in the low double digits for suspended games. OTOH, he is not a big NHL name so they could easily give him a MUCH harsher punishment than they would give to someone like Hossa (if Hossa had committed the same hit). They could use Torres as an example as he is not a big name player.

I think it’s a horrible system. They need to standardize the penalty system far more than it is now. Too subjective and too favorable to big name players.

The report that I heard on Torres said that he had requested a delay in his hearing, from today until Friday, and the team confirmed to the league that he would not play in Thursday night’s game. My guess is that, knowing that Hossa had been released from the hospital, they wanted to delay to see the severity of his injury, hoping that if it’s not serious, the suspension would be for a shorter period. Who knows. Torres has a history with this type of hit, which will be a problem for him. With all the discussion about concussion awareness and prevention this season, amid the deaths of some players, it is baffling to me why little has been done to stop this kind of nonsense in the playoffs.

I don’t think Torres’ suspension should be lessened if (as we hope) Hossa was lucky and not injured too seriously. Especially in the case of Rafi Torres. A year suspension might get people’s attention. Torres said it was just “a hockey play.” That’s the trouble-- he thinks sending a guy off the ice on a stretcher by jumping to put his shoulder in his face is just a hockey play.

CF,

Doesn’t the rule says 2 feet can’t leave the ice? On all the replays I saw, his were both off the ice, not even close. How can he call that a hockey play!

So will Vancouver make it 3 for 3 for unexpected wins tonight?

Glad to see the Penguins get back to what they do best tonight. Unfortunately, the Flyers got back to one of the things they did best this season, take dumb penalties. 10-3.

Ottawa over the Rangers in OT. Series tied.
