Stanley Cup playoffs 2012!

^ Now when they rip your heart out it will hurt twice as much. :D

yes… honestly I think the Caps are the better team right now. But the only thing I can envision happening is heartbreaking collapse at some point during the game. lol

also - holtby just became a dad

Well, if your team has been eliminated you can occupy your time thinking about this:

[Bikini Hockey League](<a href=“Don’t insult Bikini Hockey League with comparisons to Lingerie Football League”>Don’t insult Bikini Hockey League with comparisons to Lingerie Football League)

annnnnnnnd pessimism is justified.

Caps gave up a soft goal early. Skated the rest of the game with no effort, energy, or desperation. Managed a total of 3 shots in the third period when they were behind for the entire thing. The Caps team from game 6 was nowhere to be found.

sigh

I was out so only saw the final 10 minutes. It’s frustrating, isn’t it, soccerguy, when the effort just isn’t there. If you can’t find the motivation in the Stanley Cup playoffs, then there’s a problem.

In other news, the Leafs farm team is on to their conference final! The most hockey excitement in this city in a long time. :)

Well, maybe because the Rangers team from game 6 was nowhere to be found either.

Don’t you think the Rangers had anything to do with 4 versus 11 shots on goal in the 3rd period?

Now, on to a reprise of the 1994 Eastern finals with the Devils–last time the Blue Shirts skated with the Cup. It will be embarrassing if the “greatest goalie on the planet” loses to Methuselah in the goal. It helps that it’s also a home game crowd when they’ll be on the road.

I don’t think it’s a question of motivation, it’s nerves or not handling pressure well.

As the only 1-seed left, it should be a cake-walk for the Rangers. :D

Lundquist is scary good. I still hope to see the best goalie in the history of hockey win one more time, even if at 40 he’s past his best years.

My D (Devils fan) and her long time BF (Rangers fan) have agreed to be bitter enemies through the series, and then root together for whichever team wins.

Coincidentally, they are closing on a house this week, so the bitter enemy thing might get a bit uncomfortable. :)

of course the Rangers played better. That said, the Caps didn’t get only 4 shots in the period because of the Rangers. They only got 4 shots because they were not playing desperation hockey and not doing everything in their power to throw pucks at the net.

The Rangers did what they had to do. The Caps did not. Very simple.

OK, no more of this Mr. Nice Guy hockey, and let’s get ready to rumble. The Rangers and Devils do not like each other. Multiple fights this season, in a couple of games games fisst flying as they were dropping the opening puck.

From The New York Times:

When It’s Rangers-Devils, the Fists Win

The Rangers and the Devils split their six-game season series, but the final scores practically became an afterthought because of spillages of animosity.

Watching the warm-ups! Hope it’s a good game tonight.

Go Devils!!! I hope Marty still has enough in the tank.

Not last night. All the Devils looked tired in the 3rd period.

Really surprised with the play of the Coyotes in the first two games. I thought it would be a much more evenly matched series. The Kings look strong and well in control. Phoenix is taking too many stupid penalties and being badly outplayed.

The Kings look like they are going to go 16-1 in the playoffs, lol.

Devils are playing well so far, outplaying the Rangers but Lundqvist is hot. With all of the turmoil in the front office, I’d like to see the Devils continue to do well, in spite of it. Many of these guys will likely be gone by next season and the team could be in bankruptcy.

One of those games where the Devils are outplaying the Rangers but Henrik is outplaying the universe.

Exciting game last night! Looks like this thing is going to go seven–not sure how it will turn out.

One note: I have a photo of my son with the Stanley Cup and two Devils from the last time they won. One of the two is Mike Rupp. Last night I was disappointed to see him act so goon-ish. He didn’t use to be tht way. (Though his coach called the sucker punch to Brodeur a “legal hit” so what do know? :frowning: )

Anyway, should continue to be an entertaining series.

Let’s Go Devils!!! Beat the “King” to get to the Kings.

Mar-ty’s Bet-ter!!!
