Stanley Cup playoffs 2013!

I remember not too long ago that the Hawks came back to win 3 in a row.

That said, I hope the Kings go down.

Ellebud, all I have to say is you are darn lucky, or unlucky, to have had such a good year to be initiated into the capricious world of hockey fandom.

Your team is battling some injuries. Healthy, they’d be knocking the Hawks around a bit, but they are, unfortunately, hurt. These are the vicissitudes of fandom. Next year, I’m coming out to LA and crashing your party, anyway.

Good luck to the Kings, tonight.

Only 3 teams have come back from a 3-0 deficit in NHL playoff history.

(Of course, the last time was against the Bruins in 2010, but we don’t speak of that.)

I am rooting for the Kings though. I want that series to go as long as possible, so whoever wins is beat up when they face the Bruins for the Cup.

[NHL Playoff Comebacks Trailing 3-0](<a href=“THE PUCK REPORT: NHL Playoff Comebacks Trailing 3-0”>http://www.puckreport.com/2009/04/nhl-playoff-comebacks-trailing-3-0.html</a>)

poetgirl: Of course you’re invited! Just tell me dietary restrictions and preferences. While we understand that someone may not support the Kings…and yes, you will be allowed to do the happy dance…but not too much of the dance.

Mr. Ellebud and SonEllebud, and Daughter1Ellebud have always loved hockey. But I started watching this year because Baby Ellebud is involved with hockey. So…Go Kings!!!

So…all the Ellebuds, except moi, got tickets for the game tonight. Go Kings!

S2 and I bond over sports (hockey, football, baseball). DH and S1 won’t touch the stuff. My Mother’s Day gift was a ticket to the Caps/Rangers. Unfortunately it was the 5-0 blowout.

How did I marry someone who didn’t like sports!?!?

I hope you don’t mind watching from home!

It will be better for you anyway, since the Hawks will be winning. ;)

No, I am fine. My daughter has had a challenging few weeks. I wanted her to go with Mr. Ellebud. And she ran to the pizzeria and bought me an eggplant pizza and a salad. I didn’t ask her to go, she just did.

Oh…and what just happened? There was a score…by the Kings.

Yep, and almost another just now.

Hawks probably were wondering what song was being sung before the game.

Well, that last period was great!

On to Thursday.

congratulations to the ellebuds and all kings fans.

Getting back to their gameplan clearly worked well for the Kings. Good for them! I don’t like sweeps, regardless of who wins them. It’s always good for the sport to have a team’s fans get to enjoy one or more wins in a series. It’s why I always love series that go to seven. :)

Report: It was a win/win situation. (Thank you for the support and good wishes). It was a good game. (made better by the win of course). The seats were phenomenal. And they enjoyed the father/daughter bonding. I do think that (because of the section) that more than one person thought that it was date night.

But that is Los Angeles…

This is killing me.

I dozed off at the end of regulation. Only now just found out the result. I thought in regulation that the Penguins outplayed Boston, but it seems the gods are watching over the Bruins.

Hawks play tonight w/o Keith, but I may have to watch some basketball.

What a game!

I agree with your assessment, although I thought Boston carried the play in the OTs.

There are reports that Campbell has a broken leg from blocking that shot in the 2nd period. That was one hard shot…

I stayed up to the end, I am going to be useless today. :D

His staying on was as heroic as his block. Fans showed their appreciation immediately.
I’m on vacation until 8/16.

I’m jealous. :D

That was a heckuva game. Boston lucked out.

A team can often ride a hot goaltender a long way in the playoffs. In fact, I think you could argue that having a hot goalie is pretty much a requirement to win the Cup.

Last night Rask was on fire, and has been all series. Vokoun played well in this game, but look at the first two games (including Fleury in this) - sloppy play and soft easy goals put the Pens in a deep hole.

When a game gets to the 2nd overtime, fatigue becomes a big factor, and the game often degenerates into a series of back-and-forth rushes. We were starting to see that at the end, but it seemed to me like Boston had more energy, and dominated, in both overtime periods. The Bruins seem to be better conditioned, and it directly led to the win. That kind of mucking along the boards by Jagr after 95 minutes of hockey? And the guy is 41, too. Just amazing.

So I don’t think Boston lucked out.

Both teams were unlucky in some regards - both had multiple shots hit the pipes, and the Bruins lost a guy for the rest of the year with a broken fibula. One of Boston’s strengths is being able to play four solid lines, it’s a big loss.
