Yes, but it will be two very tired teams playing on Monday. That could make for short tempers.

I just have one thing to say to you, bevhills:

BEAT L. A.! BEAT L. A.!

Cardinal Fang: I believe that this is the call to battle. We (and I mean all the Ellebuds, the King’s family, and AEG (the latter pays one of the junior Ellebuds) will be at the television ready to cause havoc and grief to all our opponents!

I will say (with a slightly self rightous tone)…that we, by our very nature as Angelenos (and NOT from a cowtown San Jose) will win.

…now I really hope that I finally catch on to what icing is :)…and not on cake.

We are the KINGS!

And if you happen to be in the neighborhood…you are invited with your immediate family to join us so that we can savor the victory even more.

Go Kings!

One sentence explanation: if the puck crosses the center line and the goal line without anyone touching it, and the defense (except for the goalie) is the first to touch it after it crosses the goal line, it is icing, and the puck is brought back to the other end for a face-off.

The biggest exception is when a team is short-handed, they cannot commit icing.

All the gory details: [Icing (ice hockey) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Icing (ice hockey) - Wikipedia)

Thank you!!! Really thank you!

We long-time fans in San Jose look down on bandwagon fans from LA.

I, by the way, have actually had a Stanley Cup ring on my finger, unlike many Sharks :). I was doing a hockey skating clinic and the teacher, who had three of them, let us try one on.

A daughter and I missed seeing the Stanley Cup at Pinks last year. Ms. Ellebud will GET a championship ring if they win AND I put on a Super Bowl ring with 3 diamonds that belongs to the former general manager of the Oakland Raiders.

(drawing to my full 5 feet of royal indignation: Match THAT!)

…hope everyone knows that while true, this is my retreat into childiish behavior…or perhaps fanlike behavior.

I had two on last weekend, CF.

Bandwagon fans are funny but one hopes that they become actual fans. Hockey can always use new fans!

See ya Tuesday, bevhills. :)

Wow, how many rings does a Stanley Cup winning team give out? Those things cost like $30K a pop.

Sharks Sharks Sharks.

YAY, too bad I was at a BBQ and didn’t get to see it.

Could have been your last chance to see a Sharks victory this season.

CardinalFang: Yes, we will see you Tuesday. And after the game, we will both raise a toast to our teams, fun and sportsmanship. (I really can’t believe that I am actively rooting for a hockey team.) Have a wonderful Memorial Day. I am rooting for an exciting game.

OK, I don’t think I’m going to be able to watch the Hawks/Red Wings tonight because I don’t get that NBC channel. I don’t even find it listed anywhere.

I’ll have to settle for the White Sox/Cubs, 2 total loser teams, unless someone here gives me other possibilities.

gloworm, do you get any Canadian channels? It’s on CBC, Hockey Night in Canada, at 8:00.

No, unfortunately I do not. I’m now thinking they will give updates during the baseball game. I get that on two channels.

Thanks, though.

It depends. Team management makes that decision. Usually, they’re given to just about everyone, although the player rings are often more elaborate/expensive than those given to staff.

gloworm, sorry you’ll miss the game. Maybe you could keep track online. I know that several of the news webpages have a follow-along update system, e.g., USA Today.

alwaysamom,

I’ll figure something out. My Mac is not too stream friendly, though, so I’ll follow updates.
With the rain here, I’m not sure the baseball game will be played.

Actually I have it on good authority that the ring is not that expensive. I do know that people can purchase a replica ring for $100 or so. A thirty thousand dollar ring would be amazing.

Wings only have to hold on to this lead for 20 more minutes…

I’m having such a hard time watching. Too nervous. Come on, Wings!
