Stanley Cup Playoffs 2018

Sniff. The Sharks put up a good effort, nothing to be ashamed of.

@“Cardinal Fang” They did, indeed. I have a feeling that the Golden Knights may be a bit of a juggernaut this year. They’re amazing. And Fleury is playing some of the best hockey of his career.

Yay for Tampa Bay. Very satisfying to see the Bruins go down.

Will the other two series end tonight? I have a feeling that they will.

Somehow I did not connect Wilson to the person I used to work with when he played in the OHL. I don’t remember him being a dirty player.

The bar with people from all over the country and it errupted when the caps won. Everyone hates Crosby lol.

FINALLY!!! Congrats to the Capitals!!!

@romanigypsyeyes This is Wilson’s third suspension this season and he led the Caps in penalty minutes by over 100. In the five years he’s been in the NHL, he has led all the players in aggregate penalty minutes. His hits had already been reviewed three times in the playoffs by the Dept of Player Safety. Hard, physical play can be accomplished without head hits. There’s no place in the game for that type of play any longer.

@alwaysamom I agree and stand by what I said earlier. It’s just disappointing because I don’t remember him being dirty in the minors. Maybe he was and I just don’t remember.

Sorry to see the Penguins lose but glad to see the Predators get to game 7.

My first hockey game was the Washington Capitals hosting the Atlanta Flames, so I’ve been through the wringer cheering for the second most snakebit team in the NHL (after Vancouver) for a long, long time.

I’m just going to enjoy exhaling for a couple days before worrying about their next series.

Amen,@dfbdfb …I’ve been following the Caps since the beginning in 1974. Celebrating calmly with fingers crossed…

Very happy the Caps won last night and avoided game 7. I’m guessing they’ll be the underdogs in the next round. Maybe that’s a good look for them?

Way to go, Jets! They played a very strong game and beat a good Nashville team. Next up, Vegas!

3 of 4 teams in the conference finals have never won a Stanley Cup—so really, sorry Floridians, but my primary cheering interest at this point is anybody but the Blots.

If you ranked sports by calories expended per point scored, ice hockey would be somewhere near the top.

I was out last night so didn’t see the Caps/Lightning game but congrats to the Caps! Great for their fans!

The Jets were on fire tonight. They are such a strong, fast team. Fun game!

Wow, what a surprisingly solid 6-2 victory the Caps just finished over the Lightning - and the two goals given up were both on questionable-at-best power play opportunities. If they can play this well at home, which is often their Achilles heel in the playoffs, they might just be on their way to an appearance in the finals.

How’s that anti-Capitals clothing ban working out in Tampa?

ALLCAPS

Living in Tampa now. Sports section full of how locals were outplayed. Will see what happens. Interesting to have such a devoted fan base in this climate.

Home ice doesn’t seem to provide the same type of advantage as it once did. Tampa showed, as they did in the regular season, how dangerously explosive their offence can be.

I love the men who sing the national anthem in D.C. Such beautiful harmony.

They are both awesome singers and do a lot of things for the Caps. They generally switch off, so it was a treat to hear them sing together last night.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the ice was a little soft last night – it was 93 here yesterday and a big thunderstorm passed through around the time of the game. It was humid all day. Holtby mentioned in the post-game that the ice felt a little different.

TB did have their game faces on last night.

The best part of the game was the national anthem… unfortunately.
