<p>hi everyone. i’m a rising junior and i want to try to start some sort of ap physics course in my school since it’s not offered to students in my school. i’d like to be able to take the course senior year instead of ap biology. i’m unable to contact my school’s guidance department for several weeks until school almost begins and i’d like some sort of plan for how to approach this :)</p>

<p>Well, it’s not really that easy.</p>
<p>Keep in mind that a teacher can’t simply just start teaching an AP course whenever s/he feels like it. They have to get proper training, go to sessions over the summer, and prepare a curriculum - all of which are very time consuming and cost money to the school, something a lot of teachers aren’t up for. So the first thing you need make sure of is that you know of a teacher who’s qualified. Is your normal-level physics teacher a great teacher? Is he dedicated to his job? If so, he might be willing to teach the course. Contact the teacher ASAP and tell him that you have an interest in the course.</p>
<p>After that, there’s not really much you can do. If you notice there are other students who would like the class, talk to them and try to get a petition to demonstrate interest. But besides that, whether or not the course can be implemented rest between the teacher and the guidance counselors.</p>
<p>If you don’t have a teacher at your school who you’d feel is qualified, then you might want to look at self-studying. There’s currently a good topic in the AP Science section with some information on self-studying the course, if you wish. :)</p>
