Starving Artist

Do people move to Los Angeles anymore? Or New York? I have this fabricated idea of California circa 1965, Los Angeles etc. Did that ever really exist? It seems like alot of talent came out of these areas though… George Clooney, harrison ford, and many others left there homes to start a new in los angeles, It all sounds really great and all but i cant imagine it in todays time.

I’d like to go somewhere ideal to that ideal you know? A fun place with a music scene etc. sounds fun. I just wanna get out there. where i live right now is very remote and isolated.

Wow I’m thinking the same thing! I hope to go to college in NYC, as there is so much more culture there than where I am from. I think that moving to la or NYC is still a very good choice to make. It will probably affect you positively in some way.

I think people still move to Los Angeles, while many others move to Brooklyn. (Usually Williamsburg.) That’s not always necessarily the best idea, because Brooklyn is ex-pen-sive. Depends on how old you are; if you really are artistically talented, ask around your arts program and see where people go after college. If you’re not in college yet, there are a lot more places that are fun to go to college and that have strong art programs than there are necessarily cities where it’s easy to find a job in the art scene, so don’t fixate on Los Angeles.
