Stats for "forwarded to committee review" statuses?

S’s last name starts with A and applying to CLAS.

Not enough data points to determine alpha pull yet.

tals54, that is the status that most people have. a few people have an updated status which states that their application has been “forwarded to committee review.”

my last name is at the end of the alphabet…perhaps there is hope for me!

Last name G and applying to Annenberg

My last name starts with X… so not quite sure about the alphabetical thing.
I got the update early this morning, and I’m applying to Viterbi

Wouldn’t status changes indicate acceptances today for people in CA? But that didn’t happen.

No one knows…merely trying to guess what’s happening now in the process

Well, we have no idea what the status changes mean; this is all speculation. As for the acceptance letters, those go out in snail-mail, and last year, they were post-marked on 1/23. So the earliest that the CA people can receive admission would be Monday (1/25). I live on the east coast >.<, so i dont expect anything for awhile.

D’s status changed and then changed back to old status - no scholarship notification now

im not too worried about this status update, even though my stats are comparable to ones listed in the first post (i have a 4.5 gpa, 35 act, lots of extracurriculars, etc). i remember when i first applied it took several weeks for them to update my status after i submitted all required documents, so im guessing (and hoping) that itll take a few days for them to post the updated status for everyones theyre planning to change.

and even if that guess is wrong, theres absolutely no indication, much less a guarantee, that a status change has any special meaning or significance, so i wouldnt read into it too much

Applying to Computer Science/Business dual degree for some reason…
Father is a USC alumnus, worked at USC Medical Center for 10+ years

should i just give up on HYPSM + Wharton now if i can’t even get a scholarship interview from USC?

Not having your status changed does not mean you won’t get reviewed for scholarships. It’s most likely all just a bunch of nonsense.

i know that… but there must be SOME reason why all these people’s statuses changed. plus, most of them have good stats too, so i wouldn’t be surprised if they were all admitted…
and i haven’t seen very many people with good stats who DON’T have the status change :[

I think there are plenty of good applicants that haven’t had status changes, and seriously Handlebars, yours is a very impressive application indeed. What are your EC’s like? Based on objective stats alone, it seems like you’d be pretty much guaranteed an interview.

I have the status changed with a 31 ACT and a 3.7 unweighted. My friend who attends the same school does not, yet she has a 35 ACT and a 3.9 with equal if not better ECs. So I think it really means nothing.

Did you apply to different schools within USC?
