CCRunner: michigan does see that. i transferred from the most elite prep school in my area (i’m from central florida) to the best public school in central my area (yeah, i’m privilaged) during my junior year. as in, before the 4th quarter. a lot of my grades were lost in translation (my non ap prep school classes were 100x tougher than the non ap public school classes other kids had taken) and my prep school didn’t rank. thus, i was stuck with a very low class rank even though my courseload looked great (my transcript said i took like 10 classes my freshman year). hardly anyone ever applies to michigan from my public school, and my prep school rarely sends anyone to michigan either. michigan will examine your school, and if it does have that excellent reputation, michigan will notice.

by the way, my SAT is 2140 (700cr 700m 740w) and i had a 3.45 uw gpa. my class rank was like 150/900.

Does the speed at which one recieves a decision correlate with their stats or simple on when their app was completed? It seems some people got decisions lightening fast, and others, not so much. And from all outwourd appearences, those students who looked more qualified recieved it sooner. Is that true? Also, does it have anything to do with in state or out of state?

not sure, but many got deferred really quickly too. I applied in january and at this rate I dont expect to hear until mid april. I havent heard anything!

Also, I haven’t officially received my acceptance letter yet. However, a lady from Michigan called me to notify me that I have received the William K. Brehm Scholarship (full tuition for 4 years), which is only offered to 3 students at my high school. She also made it clear that I was, in fact, accepted to the University.

I also applied pretty early (Oct. 1) and heard from them in about a month. Good luck. I hope to see you there this fall!
