Stocking stuffers 2018

I buy Darn Tough socks for stocking stuffers. I used to be a SmartWool sock person & converted to Darn Tough.

Santa always finds new bottles of hot sauce with exotic saucy names for our stockings: ie “Mad dog revenge”, “Day of the Dead,” “Backdraft,” “Bat’s Brew”, “Vicious Viper,” “Scorned Woman”,“Mother of All Sauces".
Santa uses https://www.sockittome.com for our socks.

@intparent @Midwest67 Backcountry is having 20% off socks right now including Smartwool and Darn Tough.

How about metal straws? Someone told me they were pretty cheap on Amazon, and it would be helping our environment too.

William Sonoma had some spatulas that are designed by celebrities that also contribute to a charity. I bought these for my daughters. I bought the one that said “truth” by Gwen Stafanie

The Star War spatulas went over well. I did like the celebrity ones, it you have to know your audience.

Oh and in the box that I received there was a $3 off coupon for a future $15 beauty purchase.

@eb23282 I bought those salad dressing squeeze bottles at Bed Bath and Beyond two years ago and put them in my girls’ stockings. They are definitely perfect for school lunches. Younger D is still at home and uses them several times a week in her lunch.

Hmm. The salad bottles… 1.3 oz or 2 oz? Not sure what to get… measurement of bottle isn’t on the site that I can find, just how much it holds. I guess 2 oz is a quarter cup…

Got 3.4 oz plastic jugs of genuine Maine maple syrup, little packs to make caramel apples, cute bar harbor, ME socks, and a bunch of sewing notions: braid thread repair kit, self-threading needles on magnetic holder, seam ripper with a threader, and a needle kit.

Oh yeah, also got some cute small cloth weekend handbags (can hold eyeglasses, cell phone, cards, keys and a bit of cash), made by some Ghana women entrepreneurs who are getting themselves and other women out of poverty. Also got some cute large tablecloths we will use as curtains. Their website is Global Mamas.

Seam rippers should only be used by professionals! They are dangerous in the wrong hands.

I find seam rippers very helpful but you are right that seam rippers have to be used carefully. I’m not sure professionals are required, since there are so few professional sewers or alterations folks these days.

I meant me as a ‘professional.’ In my sister’s hands, the repair job would be worse than the mistake being ripped out… She learned early in life that if she needs a button sewn on, go to the dry cleaners. I do love my seam rippers but even I have been known to rip too much.

Yes, for some folks, a professional is really mich better than them trying to “fix,” like we prefer hiring the plumber because H said he’s been there, done that and it’s way more mess than he wants to handle.

Ok, back to stocking stuffers—will look around and see if I find any more treasures in the next few days.

@himom Those chocolates you give out are good. (macadamia nut)

Thanks—yes, good candy is always a hit!

@HImom - I think I am spending a bit at Global Mamas. Cute things and inexpensive!

I posted this a while back on a different thread (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/21693405), but I’ve decided to order a few more for stocking stuffers.

Tiles are small bluetooth trackers. We attach Tiles to purses, backpacks, and keys. After you download the app, you can use your phone to make the Tile ring so you can find your lost item; you can also press a button on the Tile to make your phone ring when you can’t find your phone.
