Stocking Stuffers, 2019

Looking for more good ideas since more people have probably been shopping. I bought a couple of pairs of nail/toenail clippers, starbucks gift cards. I also got some cute cooling scarfs for when we go on our vacation in Utah this summer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SR896FQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

A couple of recent good stocking stuffers I bought:

TJ Maxx - lint rollers in a fun print - 2 pack, $2.99.

I’m been trying to get my kids to try Aldi for some of their grocery shopping - I’ve turned into an Aldi believer! - anyway, was there yesterday and they had these cute key chain fob thingies for .99 - the fob holds a quarter so you always have it for the cart! - they are fun shapes - succulents, tacos, etc. - plus I also got them each a $20 gift card to try it out.

Also at TJ Maxx I always scour the kitchen small gadgets/utensils - chip clips, mini storage containers for condiments, etc. since all mine pack their lunch most days - even found a pack of 4 tart tins for baking for 4.99 for my D who loves to bake.

My kids are getting these bag clips in their stockings. They’re not really clips at all but I don’t know what to call them. They close bags better than traditional bag clips and don’t take any storage space in the drawer.

I just bought 5 rose gold colored pie servers with serated edges, suitable for engraving which had great reviews. They were under $3 apiece and I had searched Ross, WalMart and Sam’s club for something suitable and finally switched to online.

The reviews were very positive. They come in other colors as well. I do like bringing pies for some events and am pleased to finally have a nice server! Each of the kids will get a server in their stocking!

Ooh, love some of these ideas. I borrowed the lottery scratch off, Prosecco and chip clip ideas.

In addition my kids are getting:

metal straws
poo-pourri
candy
a hometown t-shirt
Girl Scout cookies. An impulse buy. Couldn’t resist the cute little girls outside the grocery store.

I think I’m done!

I got an Essie Holiday giftset from CVS that looks just like this.

If you don’t like all the colors CVS sells a full size of each of them separately.

Someone just paid me for a thing I sold on a local selling wall with a book of 20 $2 bills (her son works in a bank and she happened to have them on her).

I think I’ll peel off a couple for the stockings

@OHMomof2 - that made me laugh. Our locally run grocery store use to always give $2 bills out in change. I used to take them on vacation and people would ask me if they were real.

Hard to use abroad I’m sure!

I’m usually the stocking queen filling them with so much fun stuff. This year I’m having trouble filling my 27 year old son’s. We don’t do much food in them so I’m not likely to throw candy and such - or at least not more than one food item. I’ll pick up a couple $10 gift cards (Dunkin, Starbucks, Chick fil a) but he’s a toughy this year!

^Maybe put something big in it to round it out, like a full sized bottle of wine?

Abasket, my son is now 28. Does your son have a tile for his keys? A small puzzle of the Rubik’s cube type? This year I purchased Nuun tablets, Stroopwafels, and a snug belt to keep his phone in while running. Last year I scoured the hardware store and remember buying a pruning tool for shrubbery. You may wish to look around at a small independent hardware store for ideas.

^^^ haha @ksm, he has probably kept Tile in business - he has had several! Thanks for the additional ideas.

Thanks @BunsenBurner for the Baggu post…after watching Broken (a Netflix doc), my DH is now disgusted by plastic bags (which is a good thing!) and I’ve been looking for a plain reusable bag for him as he is finally on the reusable bag train. If he can keep it in his wallet, even better!

My college Junior son told me the other day that there’s a meme popular with college students that says something like December for a college student = when you tell your Mom you need toothpaste and she says “ok, but that counts as a Christmas present!”

Here’s a nice nylon bag that comes with its own stuff sack & caribener. This link is for a set of for $23.99. I have used it happily for years until I forgot it in a Costco shopping cart & no one turned it in to lost & found. Good quality. It’s made of recycled plastic bottles in US, IIRC.

HIMom, I had a green bag like that for years and years. I loved it!

Sorry, meant to type 4 @$23.99, so $6/bag for Chico bags. It’s nice the stuff sac is attached so it doesn’t get lost and it’s compact and strong.

Stocking stuffers are so much fun because they really can be any sort of treat. Love all the ideas on this thread and definitely will be stealing the Prosecco one for D14. Also going into stockings:

holiday socks
toothbrushes
lip balm
poopourri
avocado huggers
reusable utensil set
water bottle cleaning tablets
gift cards
hot chocolate
candy
