**Stony Brook University Class of 2021 Decisions**

@Metanyanya when did you apply?

I don’t think when someone applies matters…a lot of my friends applied in December and got accepted on the same day. I applied on the last day and I got accepted a week later. Some of my friends applied in early January and got in early February. I think it just depends on the major.

Anyone got acceptance majoring in English? My daughter (in state) applied in the middle of Dec, and is still waiting for the result. I start to worry.

Has anyone got an acceptance majoring in Sociology?

No decision yet…

Reading all this is making me nervous for my son- mechanical engineering major but has heard nothing…

My son applied in October and just found out last week he’s in. Computer Science Major. Out of state

I am nervous as well… No one from my school has been accepted. About 8 to 9 students received a rejection through email, and a lot of kids from my school applied. I am starting to think there’s no hope for me… My SAT score is a little low (1210) However my GPA is high (3.8 Weighted) & I’ve been very involved in extracurriculars, had two paid internships etc… But it isn’t really looking good from where I am I guess . (I’m in state btw, and I submitted my application December 31st. They took out the financial aid tabs so i don’t know if that’s bad…)

I also have a lot of Honors Courses and AP’s… All with mostly 90s. I dont know if that means anything though, so I am banking on my extracurriculars but we’ll see…

D has SAT 1540, average GPA, not top or bottom student in school (SB accepts 90% applicants from her school each year), sport team captain, a lot of writing activities with international, national, local awards (big passion on writing), has not heard anything from SB, I doubt she may get result quickly if applying science major. Anyway she already has UMASS Amhurst honor college in hand with scholarship, the cost is only several thousands higher than SB (in state). However SB is near home, she can be a commuter to save money for law school, I don’t think she is overqualified or below, still hope she can be accepted, but who knows. Let’s see.

@sbuadmissions Are you still accepting applicants?

Still

processing

Yes, we’re still accepting applicants. April 1 is still four weeks away. Hang tight, team.

Chris

Stony Brook is my most desired university, but I’m doubting I got accepted. I haven’t received an update on Solar or any mail. My scores are right on their border, making me either a yes or a no.

3.5 W
3.3 UW

1230 SAT (New)

Congratulations to all who have been accepted to that amazing institution!!

I have not been accepted either but my best friend did with a 1080 sat regular decision and goa 3.0 and NO clubs andNO sports.and heheard back in january.

Meanwhile I am still waiting. :frowning:

@runnaway what major did he apply to?

Marine science

Still processing too.
Lol

@runnaway nothing yesterday on this end. Really starting to worry- wish I understood their guidelines better for releasing. They say they are not rolling but it appears that they are. Son’s stats are good 3.2 unweighted 35 ACT 780 math 720 English. Stony Brook is his first choice…looks like we wait another week.
