Storm Draco

My kiddos flight arrives in Akron at 10:15 p.m. I’m keeping my fingers crossed she gets there. Any chance everything will have moved through by then? My sister in Ohio is hoping Akron is far enough south and inland that it won’t be a problem.

Just gotta ask…are you saying Southwest canceled all of their flights in/out of Midway yesterday and all you got was a dusting? Seriously?

I think the snow in Akron will be done by then unless they end up getting remnants of lake effect from Cleveland. In northwest Ohio our advisory ends at 7pm tonight and as of now, we have nothing - now Akron is 2ish hours away, but I follow a city not far from there because that’s where my son’s school is and they don’t seem to be getting much of anything so far either. Still time for snow this afternoon, but hoping it continues to diminish!

Archiemom, thanks VERY much for that reassurance. I think we might squeak through this one.

Whenever my older son or I travel, we get hit with delays. Whenever DH or S2 travel, they breeze right through.

Good news on my end. Boston did not get hit. At least not yet. DS is on board and on time.
Of course, I’ll have to hear about what a worrier I am all the way from the airport home.
My children and my husband find me enormously entertaining.

ebeeee, I’m a worrier too when it comes to the kids’ travel. I just know that the forecast for where my D is headed is NOT good during her expected travel time. She leaves by bus from NYC at 10:30 PM tonight for Ohio and the forecast for the destination is for a lot of snow and wind. Of course, her email to me was, “don’t worry, we’ll be fine.”

Same here. I think I’m being prudent and cautious, and they just think I’m nuts.

My package left Columbus OH early this morning. :)

I suppose I cloud check the SW airlines website…but that would likely worry me more. DDs plane is supposed to leave Las Vegas for Akron in about five minutes. I sure hope it does.

DD just called. Her plane is boarding right now. They do have a stop…not a plane change… In Chicago. Chicago is OK today, isn’t it? Then they continue from there to Akron. My fingers are crossed.

thumper1

Chicago should be fine. The delays this morning were due to wind, but it has died down considerably. I can only imagine how excited you are!

thumper, my SO flew in and out of Chicago this afternoon without a problem.

thumper, when does she arrive in your neck of the woods? Are you meeting her at the airport??

She arrives here (after a three day stop in Cleveland…hoping she gets there!) on Monday night at 6:15. We will meet her at the airport near here.

I just talked to my sister in Ohio. It’s snowing and it’s windy. They have about 5 inches of snow on the ground. We are all hoping that the winds don’t keep them from taking off and heading for Akron tonight.

Just got a text from DD. plane was getting ready to leave Chicago to fly to Akron. No delay!

thumper1 - fingers crossed for your D’s safe travel. I am sure you will be happy when she is home after been away for 2 years.

thumper, your D has traveled so far and this won’t stop her…excited for you!

Meanwhile, the weather warnings for where my D is going sound pretty bad. She is about to board a bus in NYC, traveling through the night to the Cleveland area, along the lake front. Supposedly very hazardous driving conditions. Ugh.

VeryHappy: I’m in the metro Detroit area and happy to report things are fine here. We got a light dusting. My D flew in from NYC this morning, during the snow, with no issues whatsoever.

Plane landed in Akron!

Hope everyone else has gotten to their destinations.

Now…if we can just wish for decent weather the rest of the weekend and next week for the rest of the travelers…including our DD who will be flying again on Monday!

Thanks, 2016BarnardMom!

I’ve been checking his flight status and it’s due to leave on-time, in about two minutes. So far, so good!!

Thumper, glad your D made it to Akron w/o any problems. As far as I know, there is no “weather” scheduled for the next few days, so things should be OK.
