Yay about your D, Thumper and hope she makes it smoothly to you on Monday. My D called this AM to say she arrived in Cleveland. Phew.

A Christmas Eve reunion. Doesn’t get much better than that!

Besides the fact that I hate snow, this is why I never need a white Christmas - the travel worries are not worth it!!!

On another travel note, H,D and I are supposed to fly out of Chicago on Christmas to spend 2 weeks in Spain officially meeting our granddaughter/niece who is now 3 weeks old. Forecasters here are saying Chicago could be hit on Tuesday, so we are hoping they are wrong. After all the hoops H had to jump through to get off, well we’re just really hoping.

gloworm–can you fly out a day earlier? Call the airline and ask. With more bad weather on the way they may be happy to change your ticket to an earlier flight.

A change (already asked) will cost $500 per person. That’s more than the cost of the one way we paid for one. The concern is also the transport from Madrid to our destination.

We have a 4 hour window from when we land to when the high speed train departs. Hoping our worries are for naught.

Good luck, gloworm.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed Gloworm. Keep an eye on the weather and airline website. Sometimes they allow rebooking for free once they KNOW there is a weather issue.

S2’s GF was supposed to fly from Madison to San Juan on Friday but her flight was canceled. The airline rebooked her for this AM but, according to son, they – ummmm – forgot to reserve her a seat on her connecting flight. So right now she’s cooling her heels in Chicago. If she can’t get to San Juan, Plan B is for her to get to CT and be with us.

Thanks, everyone.

VeryHappy, at least there should be a refund/future flight voucher in there, no?

Latest on the Weather Channel has the storm track showing Chitown to not get hit until Wednesday. Hope that stays.

Leaving to get some things for the kids.

Dang it! D’s flight out of Chicago got cancelled this a.m…

gosmom, WHY??

^^ that’s what I was wondering. I thought the bad weather had moved on. Airline said “air traffic control” for delaying…but then they cancelled it. She’s found a seat on 2pm flight, so fingers crossed…

I just tried to call S’s GF and only got her VM, so maybe she’s on a flight . . .

S himself is due to land at LGA in 20 minutes. Yippee!! I haven’t seen him since June.

This winter traveling is just awful…I hate being worried about the weather, and the airlines.

Can’t even express my annoyance with flying in or out of O’Hare.

Anyways, D is flying in today. Can hardly stand it. Texted her to see how things were running… Got “everything is fine, phone is dying, will see you when I get there” Sigh!

Thumper I hear you about winter travel. And it’s worse now that I have D’s travel to worry about! She left B’more after work on Thursday to drive home to CT, called halfway through PA to complain to me about the SNOW and slippery roads ( thanks a lot) One look at the radar, and we saw that she’d be driving in that crud all the way home.

So, at 8:30pm we decided to head west to meet her at the NY/PA border so H could drive her car the rest of the way home and she could ride with me. Got home at 1:30 am. We were SO glad to have gone, though…it poured most of the way back, and the last 30 minutes of the drive, it was a slippery, snowy mess. About 2 inches of wet, unplowed, slick snow.

Now we just have to watch the weather for her drive BACK. Anyone have a teleporter they’d like to sell?

Yay – the baby eagle has landed. Now, just waiting for the older eagle to drive from Boston, and we’ll all be home. In our new house.

Justamom…train or plane. The train to Baltimore is easy…and probably worth the money…unless next time your dd hits a cheap airfare on SW out of Baltimore. I hate that drive! We are doing it on January 4 because we are taking a cruise out of Baltimore and don’t want to be beholden to the airline bad weather gods.

VH…terrific! First holiday in the new house with the whole family!
