<p>So do I, thumper. Thanks. They’ve got an appointment to see an apartment at 5 PST, maybe another appointment before then (I don’t know all the details of their trip). Normally that would give them plenty of time to get there, but today who knows.</p>

<p>Rather underwhelming here in Santa Cruz. Certainly not ‘storm of the decade/century’ worthy. Brief heavy wind gusts at the coast but it is very calm right now. I am glad D made it over Hwy 17 this morning…it didn’t really start raining until around 8 or 9. I suggested she have a contingency plan in case the commute this evening is really bad. She plans to just work later and if needed stay in a hotel right near the office. So far no major hwy 17 issues of which I am aware - although there was reported flooding at the Redwood Estates.</p>

<p>There was a brief torrential downpour around 10:30. </p>

<p>Our power is still on although there were a few brownout moments. Generator is at the ready.</p>

<p>I just saw a story on the weather channel of a young boy who was trapped under an 80 ft. tree which fell on top of him outside a Santa Crux elementary school. </p>

<p>Heard from FDIL that they arrived without incident and were wondering what all the hype was with the storm. Obviously, they weren’t impacted by delayed or cancelled flights, flooded roadways, or power outages, so it seems that way to them.</p>

<p>And I saw a video of water RUSHING down a Front Street staircase - very dramatic!</p>

<p>Rain fall was unevenly distributed, while Marin and north got over 5", south of SJ did not get much, less then 2".</p>

<p>DS#1 said he took the bus to work yesterday but many stayed home. Took forever but he got down and back ok. DS#2 is on a business trip out of town, but when we were there visiting a few weeks ago I noticed sandbags at their garage door. He lives very near a creek, which has, until recently, been very dry. I think he hopes to fly home tonight so will find out if the house flooded .</p>
