Story of a missing child in Texas

Really if that were your child wouldn’t you be out combing the countryside looking for her? The last thing on my mind if my child went missing would be running to a lawyer. I would be out searching high and low.

^^^^^Yep.

I usually don’t fault people for getting lawyers right away if potentially a suspect in a crime, but in this instance I have to agree with post #40.

He should have woken up his wife, called the police and started immediately searching for her.

I think he made up the story that everyone would believe she was taken by coyotes. Wouldn’t there have been some evidence of that? The wife was in such a deep sleep she didn’t realize her husband was not in bed for all that time? She didn’t even wake up when he was doing the laundry? That is usually noisy.

Both of the parents are seeking their own individual counsel.

“The wife was in such a deep sleep she didn’t realize her husband was not in bed for all that time? She didn’t even wake up when he was doing the laundry? That is usually noisy.”

The wife may or may not be involved but I can tell you my husband gets up takes a shower in our master bathroom every weekday and I rarely wake up. Also that looks like a pretty nice house. I doubt the laundry room is near the bedroom. Although I doubt he was really doing laundry unless he was washing clothes to get rid of blood…

I think he either killed her or sold her.

“Both of the parents are seeking their own individual counsel.”

If the wife is to testify against the husband, she needs her own legal representation, as one lawyer is not going to represent both - the husband is going to be a party with adverse interest. If they will be a co-defendants in a trial, there will be similar issues with one attorney representing both (see above). Just pointing out reasons why it makes sense to have individual representation.

Not saying that the wife has nothing to do with the case here, but one can sleep through a lot. If the guy typically attended to the kid at night as he claims, the wife would have just slept through such a familiar (noisy) situation.

@MichiganGeorgia I agree with you.

Here are things that would wake me up.
the sound of the laundry machine, the garage opening, the dishwasher, hearing someone going to the bathroom in the middle of the night (shower, faucet or toilet flush sound plus if lights turned on), police or ambulance sirens outside, a dog barking, the sound of an awake child, someone going up or down the stairs, cabinets or doors opening or closing, the door bell. I am going to assume all the windows were closed and the ac was turned on.

If I didn’t wake up it might be if I’ve taken a Benadryl or if unknowingly someone gave me sleep medication. Was the child even awake? Could he have taken her away while she was sleeping?

I know this is all speculation but I wish there was some update from the investigators. Maybe something captured in a video or something found in the home or in their cars.

@BunsenBurner I agree. The mother was never arrested and does not seem to be under suspicion. It is the spouse that was arrested and called the police five hours after she was missing.

It’s interesting that her lawyer, Kent Starr, said, “everyone deserves counsel” and “everyone grieves differently.” Her lawyer is trying to distance himself from her and knows the child is dead. He should never play poker because he’s not good at hiding his cards.

New report stating that the family SUV was not at the home from 4 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Oct. 7. Police have expanded the area of the search.

No updates on this story. Investigators are asking local business to look over any video footage they may have.

There is a facebook page that has been created to follow updates. It is called, " Where is Sherin Matthews."

Agree he likely killed her. Same story line as pregnant young wife reported missing: Dig the surface you find a history of abuse.

Police know this.

Sad

At least they think they have found her body now

They believe it’s her but they haven’t made an official identification yet. Been following this story for days and today I felt my heart just sunk to my stomach. Just seeing photos and videos of her my eyes just couldn’t believe what I was seeing and my ears couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

Tomorrow is the hearing in regards to the custody of the biological child. Will be interesting to see truth revealed as the evidence is reviewed and the cause of death is determined.

@raclut how many 3 year old bodies would just turn up in the area???

@3scoutsmom Was just following the facebook feeds and I just couldn’t read the comments anymore. It is just so devastating. I understand what you are saying I am just saying that it is most likely her but according to the legal process the medical investigator needs to do their examination and then the official word will come out. I think it is highly unlikely the biological child will be given back to the parents. That hearing was set for tomorrow morning but I don’t see that progressing in the parents favor.

I wonder if the other child saw or heard anything? I can’t see the parents getting the biological child back any time soon, if ever. This just makes me sick.

To early to say anything. As the investigation moves further along we will hear more. I don’t know if I really want to know the fine details of what happened. It maybe too much to bear.

The father has been arrested after changing his story. He has been charged with first degree felony injury to a child.
