Story of a missing child in Texas

He’s confessed

Horrific

I have a hard time believing the mother slept through everything, including the laundry and the car leaving and coming back. I don’t know how big their house is, or how sound a sleeper she may be, but I just don’t see it.

I’m glad to hear they will not have custody of the other child. I hope and pray she (?) was not a witness to any of the horror.

I need to go hug my children.

He will plead guilty to avoid a jury trial in hopes that the judge will be lenient. A jury here in Texas will give him the max.

From the pictures I’ve seen, I’m not buying the “malnurished, needs to be fed around the clock” thing.

I don’t believe his second story. He is covering up what really happened. Who takes their child to the garage at 3am to give them milk? I bet that is just a story so that his wife doesn’t get implicated in this crime. They are sticking with she was sleeping the whole time which I don’t believe. She is an RN in pediatrics. If the child was choking on milk he didn’t think to call 911 or wake up his wife who is a pediatric nurse to help save her? I get the impression she did something and he is protecting her so that she can at least raise their biological daughter. ( I doubt she will ever get back custody)

Let the investigators do their work to find out the truth. The truth won’t stay hidden for long.

I don’t believe the wife was sleeping. I think as a parent with two children it is natural to be a light sleeper and that too she was a nurse who probably was used to working day and night shifts so sorry I don’t believe it. When the autopsy results come will he change his story again? How convenient to have one story, go to the custody hearing, and then change the story about what happened.

There are too many inconsistencies and I find it hard to believe if the wife didn’t know what happened why she wasn’t upset and why didn’t she make any attempt to search for her daughter? This story defies any logic.

I have followed the feed from the Richardson police dept and I go by what they officially say. As the investigation proceeds I expect more charges to be brought up and possibly more arrests to be made. This is based on the reports of the police dept there.

Frankly the more I read about this the more I get creeped out and I previously said I don’t know if I could handle the real truth of what happened. I feel so sad for the child that was lost and I’m a stranger. This girl has captured the hearts of many who have been touched by the story of her life.

Update the official word from the Richardson police dept. (past 1 hour)

“Today, the Dallas County Medical Examiners Office has confirmed the identity of the small child recovered on Sunday, October 22nd in Richardson, TX as 3 year old Sherin Mathews by using dental records. Cause of death is still pending”

Another child of about the same age, a little boy, has washed ashore near Galveston, Texas. No child was reporting missing. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/10/22/sketch-shows-boy-found-dead-on-texas-beach-as-police-try-to-determine-his-identity.html

Here is the warrant of arrest that someone posted on the facebook feed.

@raclut that just makes things even stranger, why take a 3 year out to the garage to drink milk? Also why black out the the time in the report or the state where his DL was issued? I bet we can all guess it was a TX DL!

He wants to make it seem like an accident, obviously.

I don’t buy his new story, but I also think that depending how the house is set up, and whether there was a fan or a/c going in the room, for example, she could easily have slept through it.

I can’t even begin to imagine what it is like for those working tirelessly on this case. It has got to be emotionally very difficult for them as they have their own families and they need to make sure they document everything properly so that they have a strong case. This case has gotten international attention and the outpouring of love for this little girl has been enormous. Online people have posted videos of the memorials that have been made first at the tree where she has supposedly been left and now where she was found. It surprised me to see on video families visiting with their small children. It is disturbing for the parents so it has got to be disturbing for the kids that are going there. People posted pictures online of the area where she had been found and honestly I had trouble sleeping last night. This story really got to me and it is scary to think that there are all kinds of people out there that don’t have the best intentions.
Seeing reporters showing the back of the house and then walking to the spot where she was found the whole area seemed really deserted to me. All that could be seen was a field and train tracks. I would be scared to be out there alone at night and it looked kind of spooky to me.

It reminded me to be thankful for everything that we have and to remember to appreciate life and spend quality time with our families. We have to take care of each other and be good to one another.

@3scoutsmom This case is overwhelming for me. I think it’s best to leave the discovery of the facts to the professionals. We have to have faith that the truth will come out and that justice will be served. That’s why I stated before there are too many questions that remain unanswered and the puzzle pieces don’t quite all fit together so I don’t know how the investigators go about piecing everything together to figure out what really happened.

It would be so much easier if the parents were just upfront. At this point their family will never be the same. They both probably will have lost their jobs and financially have probably taken a hit with all the legal fees that they have. They have lost their two children. It seemed like they had everything a nice home, good jobs, respect in the community and a happy family. Everything just changed practically overnight. They will have to live with the consequences of their actions and the world won’t let them forget what they did. Every child deserves a happy home and loving parents. This should have never happened.

The facts I mentioned came from the “professionals” they are directly from the arrest warrant that you posted!!!

A hypothesis they must be working on may be documenting a history of abuse - in which case, abuse in the guise of waking the child in the middle of the night to force her to drink milk, then “assisting” aka physically forcing her to drink till the child choked, for instance, would fit. The whole cover up and complete denial of responsibility smacks of “this wasn’t a one-time accident”. If the wife was a pediatric nurse, why didn’t he call her? Why did he make up the stupid story of a coyote snatching her while she was out at 3 am? (Who thinks it’s believable to give a toddler a time out in the street at 3 am?) We cannot know whether he’s trying to protect his wife or not, but we know he’s STILL lying.

That’s exactly what I wondered. If he forced milk down her mouth aggressively, she could easily have aspirated and died from that. What a horrible, scary, panic inducing way to be treated by one’s “father.”

Sick, sick, sick.

I think the whole “choked on the milk” thing is as true as the “taken by coyotes” thing. Dad snapped over whatever , strangled or suffocated the poor baby and has been making up things ever since.

Really, how can you choke on milk?

If it is forced down one’s airways… what a sick individual.

Texas property tax records are online, so it is easy to look up the house. It is a 2,400 square foot, one story house. Its not that hard for me to imagine sleeping through someone getting up during the night with a child, but I guess everyone has different sleep habits.

I don’t think the father ever suggested that the child was taken by coyotes. I read it as an indication that the police were pointing out that he was wreckless to leave a child outside, especially knowing that there was a history of coyotes in the area. Kind of like leaving a 3 year old near a swimming pool…why would anyone be so wreckless when the danger is obvious?

My initial theory on this case was that the child was put outside, and previous arrangements had been made for someone to pick up the child and take her away. But that theory appeared less likely once it was determined that the family car had disappeared for an hour that night.

I don’t think that the mother is involved. She is just terrified and horrified for what has happened in her house.

And what the 4-yr-old is going through…best case scenario, the mother is determined to be not involved, and she and the child are reunited while the “father” goes to prison for a long time. If he is as guilty as he appears to be now.

Everything that I have been reading has come from the “Where is Sherin Matthews” page on Facebook.
A lot of neighbors say the kids were close to the father.
Anyway it appears the wife, Sini, has replaced her attorney with a prominent criminal attorney Mitch Nolte. Before it was Kent Starr.
