Student Health Hold

I have this student health hold because I needed a chest X-ray. I did the X-ray scan on Wednesday, Nov. 10th at UVa Hospital. On Thursday the 18th, I still had the student health hold, so I called various places in UVa Hospital and Student Health that were rather unhelpful. I was then forwarded to various other places in UVa Hospital and Student Health that were equally unhelpful. By the end of it, I decided that maybe I haven’t done the medical record release form.

After that, I went online to find the release form. When I saw it, I had a vague collection of filling it in before but leaving the “Information Release to” section blank. In any case, I printed it out, filled it in, faxed it up. Now Sunday the 21st, the student health hold is still there.

So, what should I do? I admit I’m ignorant of however UVa Hospital and Student Health administrate things around. I naively assumed that since the people in Student Health made the X-ray appointment for me, they had already worked things out so that the scan and reports would be automatically sent to Student Health afterward. Just give me a number to call or one person to talk to who wouldn’t push me aside and forward me to some place else, who would then forward me to another place where no one is present, and then I have to look up another phone number or person all over again.

/begin ranting
I was supposed to be able to register for classes on Friday the 12th. Now the two sections of the two math classes I want are already packed with students. Section 001 of Basic Real Analysis has 15 on waitlist and Section 001 of Survey to Algebra has 13 on waitlist (I sincerely hope that the movement of people after Enrollment Appointment has ended would find me a spot in those two classes).
/end ranting

When is the last day that I have to register for classes?

Is this directed at me? Unfortunately, admission officers don’t have any access to the student records parts of SIS. I doubt anyone on College Confidential works for student health.

tiachopvutru, do you have time to head over to Student Health and ask them personally for assistance? A few minutes of your time with them in person might help you sort through this quickly.

@Dean J: No. I was just looking for someone who can answer my questions. Maybe there is someone on CC who was in similar situation. Also, I’m wondering when is the last day I can enroll for Spring to see how much time I have left (as in, by the end of the enrollment period or by the add deadline in spring, etc.)

@sabaray: Yes, I have time to go there. I just don’t know who to talk to (to be honest, the people there scared me a bit the first two times I went; the last time I went there was good, though).

The bureaucracy at the hospital can be a bit challenging and while it would be nice if it was a seamless process between Elson and the hospital, it doesn’t seem to work that way. I would just go over and explain as nicely as possible your situation and ask if there is someone who can help you. Asking for help in person will hopefully be more fruitful than call after call. I hope it works out quickly for you.

Pickup your records in Radiology and walk them over to Elson.

Yesterday I walked to the Medical Record section of UVa hospital, got my X-ray report, turned it in to Student Health. Now the student health hold is gone (finally!).

Finally, the load is off my mind, lol. Now I just hope that I manage to get into those two classes with those long waitlists…

In any case, those who have replied, thank you for your help.

Bureaucracy always work the same way, slowly  Glad you got it resolved.
