“… The New Hanover County School System in Wilmington is discussing a new dress code that would ban, among other things, skinny jeans, leggings, and ‘other excessively tight-fitting pants,’ … as a way to decrease distractions from learning.'” …
Thinking back to my school daze …

Once again, North Carolina. [-(
Maybe then they will ban showing ankles?
Nobody is THAT obsessed with butts.
The article said that skinny jeans were blocked to curb bullying. That was a bad PR move, IMO. Now they’re sending the message that a) they’re unable to combat bullying head-on and b) they’re afraid to confront issues that they perceive will make them look bad.
And besides, how are “skinny jeans” defined? My favorite pair of jeans were sold under the “skinny” label, but they’re not really form-fitting.
Misguided. They should ban them for males over the age of…anything.
SO tired of this. It’s always aimed at the girls.
All my jeans fit like skinny jeans now
Ha ha me too @2muchquan.
I have to admit that I don’t understand when bike shorts/pants with no coverage became OK to wear almost anywhere besides a sporting event. And I would say this for women or men.
The other thing I noticed over at FAU (where my son dual enrolls) is butt-cheek (sorry I don’t know any other way to put that) on display. Not sure how that is sanitary. But OK.
It’s hard to not sound like my grandma, who used to say “better to leave something to the imagination”.
Where do we draw the line though? I can see why high schools try to regulate this to a certain extent, though I wouldn’t go over-the-top with it.
My house rule is “say no to crack”.
It was used on me last week. “Mom, omg, do NOT wear those shorts out of the house.” (it was a ratty old pair I use for gardening-I bent over to grab some sneakers and was met with screams of horror.).
I get what they are aiming for though. There is a certain element who do not wear skinny jeans/leggings as intended, with a shirt or long sweater to cover the butt.
These kids look like they are walking around undressed, or wearing pantyhose with a shirt or something. Just dress appropriately.
Regular skinny jeans are fine. It’s the poured on look of not wearing pants that is the objection. I’ve seen it too.
While we are outlawing clothing, please outlaw the pants that have writing across the butt. The ones that say “Juicy” or “Pink” or whatever.
