Stuff worth SPLURGING for

Yeah, you can live without this stuff, but it’s certainly a nice-to-have.

What stuff have you discovered is worth the extra splurge?

I love GLOBAL ENTRY. It’s 100 bucks and good for 5 years. It has saved my butt more than a few times when the airport security line was ungodly long.

Good food and wine. .

Smoked salmon. (aka Lox) I try to buy it on sale for $1/ounce or less, as in when the 4 oz package goes on sale for $3.99. But then I have to buy good bagels and cream cheese too. It’s extravagant, but worth it.

premier seats at the movie theater that you can reserve in advance . . .

Early check-in on Southwest . . .

organic coffee

Global Entry is not a splurge. It is a necessity. Similarly, an upgrade from Economy when flying for 15 - 17 hours and early boarding fees any where in the world whenever traveling with musical instruments.

K cups for my coffee. (I feel a lot more guilty about filling the landfills with them than I do the cost.)

Ginger soufflé body cream from Origins.

I would love Global Entry but I have a problem with my unused first name…would have to do a legal name change to get all my IDs to match exactly.

High quality food, a massage once a month and paying the supplement for a private room for any hospital stay.

For ladies - quality bras (as indicated by many threads here in CC). Cheap, poorly made, inproperly fitted bras scar both the body and the mind.

Belonging to fitness centers. I belong to 4: a yoga studio (CorePower), a pilates/barre studio (locally owned), OrangeTheory (HIIT) and then my park district workout facility (strength, cardio), It keeps me motivated and is worth every penny. It’s my one big indulgence; I don’t typically go out to nice restaurants and I don’t really care about wine.

a (monthly) cleaning service, which I arranged only relatively late in life – in the past did all my own cleaning. I initially had baggage about hiring others to clean my home, but having a team come once a month keeps me on track and lets me focus on my decluttering agenda.
Now, if I ever complete my decluttering/total household organization agenda, I will have to find another rationale for my cleaning service!
But seriously, it has nicely raised the quality of my life. More often than once monthly would be too invasive, and also provide only diminishing returns.

I will second that I have come around to paying the extra money for pilates. Also, good shoe.

Just splurged on “Faster to the Fun” on Carnival Cruise Lines — we were able to by pass the lines and get on and off the ship faster, and a few other perks. Super easy.

Amazon Prime — 2 day shipping is terrific!

Enjoy eating out often (not necessarily expensive places).

Prime!

Fun thread…quality walking shoes or sandals for traveling, sofas and chairs, traveling, good seats at any entertainment venue.

Membership in the neighborhood pool club. Didn’t go once this summer.

@claremontmom I agree. I do not necessarily associate good food with expensive food. A splurge on good food frequently involves a splurge of time and care. Going the extra mile to get freshly and carefully prepared locally sourced food rather than just settling for the something that is “just expensive”.

Yes to good seats. Whether it’s at the opera or on the plane.

Housecleaning

@musicamusica - True, but my thinking was the benefit of eating out was in the time with my H (or better yet my H and kids), that allow us to slow down and enjoy each other. And of course, the benefit of not having to prep or cleanup! To get these benefits more often I’d prefer cheaper to more expensive places (not that we don’t occasionally splurge on expensive!)

Keratin treatments for my hair. My hair is so much more manageable and takes much less time to style. It is worth every penny! Good, comfortable shoes. And like @JEM, I am just starting with a monthly cleaning service. I figure at this point in my life I deserve it!!!
