Stupid UC VAPA Requirement

I don’t intend to go to any University of California schools, but I am using some as safeties so obviously it is important I fit the requirements. The require one year of visual and performing arts, and I am a current sophomore who has not taken any yet. I don’t know where I could fit it into my schedule later on, either.
Does anyone else think this requirement is stupid? I mean, I’m not planning to major in art of dance or anything. Is it fair that now I have to not take AP Spanish senior year just so I can take Basic Art or Ceramics?

In Texas, it’s required to graduate.

I mean most high schools do have an arts requirement. My state requires four years of history, math, science, and english plus two years of a foreign language and a sport, a year of an art, a semester each of speech and health. Plus a few elective classes.

In my school its required to graduate. So it doesn’t bother me

Yep I need it to graduate here.

But even so, do you think it’s dumb when you really don’t need it in life at all?

Probably, but I also don’t need science and math or US History or most classes I take, so whatever. If it was my choice I’d have all World History and English and Japanese.
