I have combination skin. I have used Clinique moisturizer for years now for both day and night, but find it not as effective any more, maybe aging is the problem. Not looking for fancy brand names or spending a fortune. It has to be “fragrance free” because of allergies, and one that is not oily or greasy. Appreciate if you can share your experience of products and welcome any suggestions/recommendations.

Our D loves Cetafil, which is sold in bulk at Costco. She also likes Lubiderm, also sold in bulk there, as we’ll as Aveeno. The other two are not as favored. I’d buy a few travel sizes and see which ones you like. Eucerin is another our dermatologist has given us. Vanicream is heavier and D is allergic, tho it’s hypoallergenic.

Himom, thanks for your suggestions. I am sorry that I am NOT being specific, I am having problem mainly with moisturizer for the face, I do use Lubriderm or Aveeno for my body, they seem to work ok.

Everyone from different posts rave about their good shopping experience at Costco, I cannot wait for the one near us to be built next spring, I NEED a Costco!!!

I have had the best luck with Lubriderm. It’s what my father, a pharmacist, always suggested to people with very dry and sensitive skin. It’s the only thing I can use in the winter without wanting to scratch my skin off. My SIL uses Eucerin, but it’s very thick and greasy and I don’t care for it. My D uses Aveeno-but look through them as there are several variations. The one she uses with the best results is the Daily Moisturizing with the colloidal oatmeal. All of the above are fragrance-free and can be found in any chain store.

I like the CeraVe facial moisturizing lotion - they have a version for morning and one for night. Reasonably priced, not greasy at all. I believe it is “fragrance free” - I too am sensitive and it hasn’t bothered me. I have found it at Target.

My dermatologist suggested CeraVe for face and a different version of CeraVe (SA) for my dry feet. As noted above, inexpensive and not greasy. Very light. Widely sold in drug stores and via Amazon.

I have lots of sensitivity issues with lotions and scents. I have used sensitive skin Olay lotion for years (fragrance-free). It also has a sunscreen in it, so that helps since I’m allergic to the sun and have to limit my exposure. I even used the Olay lotion as a body lotion, but I also recently started using Vanicream after a doctor recommended it to me from some severe dry skin after having poison ivy. I now use that as a body lotion, but I have not tried it on my face very much.

For a facial moisturizer I use Neutrogena which has sunscreen and I think is fragrance-free. I would also look at Burt’s Bees but I’ve never used myself although I do use their Radiance night moisturizer which I would recommend. I have used Clinique as well as Philosophy. You can also look at Kiehl’s. I am using their make-up remover at the moment.

Do not get a huge tub that lasts forever. Some ingredients can and will go bad if exposed to light and air for a prolonged period of time. Unless you refrigerate your creams to slow down the chemical reactions, you should toss them after a few months.

Philosophy makes some good fragrance-free facial moisturizers.

I’ve used Lubriderm on my face for the last 35 years. My derm at the time recommended Crisco @-) , and I told her I wouldn’t be averse to spending a tiny bit more.

Very Happy, I never thought of using Lubriderm on my face, maybe I will give it a try. I think I had tried Neutrogena face lotion a while back, but for some reasons went back to Clinique.

HImom, well, at 58, my skin will never be lovely and flawless like your daughter even if I used Lubriderm/Cetaphil on my face, lol! But I don’t want to look like 20+ years older either!

Also, check your soap, if you use soap on your face. It can really affect how dry it is. My sister can only use Pear’s soap, which is glycerin-based, and H uses only what used to be called Pure and Natural, but is now a fragrance-free-Dial soap called Basic. My mother used a product from “Kiss My Face”. And so on.

I use AVEENO® POSITIVELY RADIANT® DAILY MOISTURIZER BROAD SPECTRUM SPF 30. I also used Clinique until after menopause, when it didn’t work so well for me anymore. My skin does not like many moisturizers, but it likes this one.

Go to the health food store. Get the fragrance free type with only good, organic stuff in it. I like Aubrey Unscented, and my skin looks pretty darn good.

@thumper1, I use plain old Lubriderm in the white plastic bottle with blue letters. It’s called “Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion for Normal to Dry Skin.”
