Summer/Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@sciences15 How much is the lease, and how many rooms do you have available?

@TheThinker7 $1060/month and it is just the one bedroom i need to get rid of. It’s the master and you’d have a roommate in the second bedroom.
Girls only please!!

Im looking for a roommate who wants to share a bedroom with me at 25th The Block East! $550/month and this is restricted to girl roommates only please!

@decorus INTERESTED!!!

Does anybody or is anybody going through the process of internal transfer at UT. I am currently COLA - Psyc. and want to transfer to CNS- Human Biology. I have taken calc 1 a sequence of both biology and chemistry and will finish physics at the end of the summer. It was a strenuous to get info from my advisor I’m assuming he didn’t want me to transfer i just really want to get to CNS. Also if anyone could suggest some good off campus housing apartments and if possible rates that would be appreciated im not familiar with the area at all. Thank You.

Hello everybody,

I’m an incoming transfer for Fall 2015, and as of right now it’s looking like I won’t be getting a housing contract. I’m a 19 yr. old Computer Science major from Plano, TX. I was wondering if anyone was looking for a roommate. If so, please respond/get me your contact information so we can discuss. Thanks!

@k151ramd you need to join the UT roommate finder group lol. https://www.facebook.com/groups/UTSubletRoommateFinder/

We should make another group for spring 2016

I agree with you @Kyotoraz

@alexisperez123 I am also attending WCJC-Sugar Land this Fall, and all I can say is if you get all A’s this Fall you will have a higher chance of getting in. If not, then I guess you should go to ACC and hopefully raise your GPA there. Make sure your essays are flawless and that you have enough extracurricular activities on your application, because the admissions committee might look at either or both of them, in your case. Other than that, I hope you get in. Best of luck to you!

Target School: Red McCombs
EC’s: Analyst for $1.8M investment portfolio with focus in Energy and Utilities (Oil, NGA, Bloomberg Essentials Certified)

I wanted nothing more than to get in to UT Austin out of high school, but their policy towards out of state applicants has kept me out so far. This is my third attempt, I’m taking my last run at it this year with these credentials and I hope I can make it.

Thoughts?

@decorus hi! I know this is an old post, but I’m applying for Fall 2016, and literally in the exact same boat as you. I wanted to transfer into McCombs too but won’t have my calc 2 requirement in time either so I was thinking COLA Econ as my first and COLA undeclared as my second. Im assuming with your 4.0 you should have easily gotten in, unless there was an unexpected circumstance. So my question is I guess, did you get in? Bc I will probably have a 3.6-3.7 this year and I know Econ is the hardest, so maybe we’re there any other Econ transfers that you know got into cola with a diff GPA than yours?

@keeshondqueen hi! I know this is an old post, but I saw you got in so you’re like a month into UT which rocks!!! there are thousands of comments on here though, so I was wondering what you got in for and what were your stats?

I am a freshman wanting to transfer into UT computer science my sophomore year
-University of Houston Honors
•3.81-3.89/4
•College of Natural Sciences
•Computer Science, and I havent decided on a 2nd choice major just yet
-I think my essays will be up to par, I have yet to write them
-1 letter of rec from human situation professor (honors english class) and another rec letter, but I havent decided from who
-I participated in codeRED, 3DayStartup Houston, I am in CS girls and Bauer Women’s Society. (this is all my first semester of college) I have interned at an engineering firm before, and I have worked at mathnasium before. Theres a lot more from high school but I am not sure if I should factor that in.

I am applying for Fall 2016!

-Dallas Community Colleges
-4.0 GPA overall, 32 hours
-Electrical Engineering (Cockrell)
-Not sure about the essays.
-I took Calculus 3, University Physics 1, Federal Government, Business Applications, and an Educational Class (EDUC) for Fall 2015. I have calculus 1 & 2 as a credit and passed College Algebra and Trig Dual Credit. Got All A and GPA is 4.0

  • Worked 30 hours per week as a manager at Walmart, and have fair resume

What is my chance for Electrical Engineering at UT?

@Armtin your going to get in 99% chance your getting in , however be sure you want to do EE , cause i wish i had done CS instead… like what do you want to do in EE?

@commandbutton , thanks for your reply. Yes I am quite sure about EE because I have talked to so many experienced people that I know. The job is also good for EE. CS is a good major, but now 97% of the people that I know are going to study CS, and I am thinking that the Unemployment for CS is increasing rapidly. Thus, I think EE is the better choice for me.

@Armtin , I’m saying what do you want to do in ECE … if you want to do power and circuits its the right major … if you want to go into coding and software don’t do EE . its the hardest major in the university , and this is coming from a transfer student also. i thought it was a safer option doing ECE job wise and getting in also. and Tbh i know more CS majors with internships. let me put it this way, in order to do well in EE , you actually have to love circuits , don’t do it cause you think its a safer option compared to CS or etc. because what will happen is more than likely you’ll end up getting a worse GPA cause you hate the circuit courses. Best option look at what classes are offered for all the degrees you are interested in… what ever you find the most interesting do that because you’ll be the most successful , which will lead to you getting internships and jobs… honestly many departments at UT are top ranked so don’t really worry about unemployment rates cause you’ll have a job if you do average at UT

Could I ask the safe GPA to transfer to Petroleum Engineering in UT? I am a student from the University of Oklahoma and my major is petroleum engineering. I want to apply as a transfer student and I am wondering how to make my application competitive.

@AndywantUTAustin safe GPA 4.0 , all my friends that got in had a 3.967 or higher. they only accept like 10-15 transfer if that so id say the safest is a 4.0 and if you have below a 3.9 your most likely not getting in
